So I'm moving in about a week, and due to the location of where the router for my home is going to be, and where my computer is going to be, we're going to be buying a wireless router (we have wired right now).
My family (all three of us) do a lot of PC gaming online, and a lot of downloading. I'm the only one whose computer is going to be too far away from the router to go wired, because their computers will be in the room with the router, so I'm going to also need a wireless card.
My questions are:
1. What recommendations do you have on GOOD wireless routers that have strong signal and are reliable connection wise. (I heard some things about 802.11N routers? Apparently they have strong signal, but I don't know specifics)
2. What are some recommendations on a kind of wireless card I should get for my computer? (Again, if I get a Wireless-N router, I'm apparently going to need to get a Wireless-N network card, unless there's better)
Thank you for any input or suggestions! :buddy:
I've always had a good experience with Sitecom, easy to setup and never had a problem with it, i suggest as router their latest X3 Gigabit router, the WL351, and as the wireless card the WL-181-XR.

If you will have alot of interference in the area from other wireless connections or other devices you can also try getting a 5.0GHz dualband router.

Here's the problem: My mom wants to buy the card, and router, from Best Buy or Microcenter. She wants it right away (If I fight with her and say we should order one online, I'll end up having to pay for it :v:)

I'm looking right now at this Router.

From what I've heard, Linksys has pretty good routers.
But we have a Buffalo router running the DD-WRT firmware. Its rock solid.
My Netgear router's been rockin' solid for a little longer than a year, and it was a hand-me-down from a friend to begin with
Can't go wrong with a Linksys

Actually, my first wireless router a few years ago was a Linksys. It died within a few months and the connection was horrible :v:
I ended up getting a D-Link Xtreme N something or other and a matching D-Link card.
