• Unstable Wireless with Linksys WAG120N

After my old Thompson router died from overheating I got a new Linksys WAG120N, this has so far not been a good choice since the connection it provides is unstable at best. During steam downloads on a good day I get 1.6mbps, I live in New Zealand so this is no surprise, but what more then often happens is it drops down to 5 or 6 kbps, what is causing this is unknown. There are normally 3 devices connected... A iPad over WI-Fi using IOS 4.3 A 2010 Dell 13 inch laptop with Windows 7 And my 16 inch HP Pavilion dv6 with Windows 7 A custom built desktop over a cable with Windows Vista Though also connected sometimes are... iPod touch 4g using IOS 4.1 Jail-broken HP Mini 210 using Ubuntu 10.10 Sony Vaio Cs-16g using Windows 7 All but the dell laptop are effected by this speed issue, the iPod touch has it so bad that watching any you tube video has become impossible. There is a cordless phone but I have seen this happening at all times during the day. The effects other then speed are that the connection may be reset in my web browser, other then that speed is the main thing. Also it may be useful that I am with Telecom New Zealand at the moment for broadband and the exchange is about 1km away. Complete dropouts are rare but do happen on some devices. For the iPad and iPod touch the problem can be resolved by renewing the IP lease but this is more something of chance then anything else. Feel free to ask for anything related I have missed. Finally any ideas on what is causing this?
Check the router settings. Enable upnp and dmz if it's disabled
