http://kotaku.com/5830253/bungie-staffer-brings-down-shooting-suspect-with-handcuffs
Jeff Fletcher, an IT guy from Halo creators Bungie, pulled into the parking lot of a US Bank branch in Skyway, Seattle last week. He then saw two guys start shooting each other. What happens next is awesome. A former security guard whose father used to be a Seattle cop, Fletcher saw a fight between two men escalate into a shootout, with one man wounded while the other tried to escape. Cutting him off, Fletcher pulled his own gun on the fleeing suspect then, amazingly, managed a citizen's arrest, handcuffing the suspect with his dad's old police cuffs (worn on the same holster he kept his gun, which he has a legal permit to carry concealed). Police soon arrived to find the suspect cuffed, searched and sitting on the curb, fresh and ready for questioning.
I don't think I'll try to break into Bungie anytime soon...
Which pistol? The one in Halo 2 sucked.
It's great to see people not just run and hide any time there's trouble, but actually try to make a difference in their society despite it not being their responsibility.
That's pretty badass.
Played too much Halo, he could have been killed.
I bet he teabagged him after cuffing him.
Played too much Halo, he could have been killed.
if he died he would just respawn anyways
What a good citizen.
Played too much Halo, he could have been killed.
"I wonder if this portable overshield will work... If not I'll just wait for my next spawn."
Played too much Halo, he could have been killed.
Personally, I'd rather die helping someone and/or trying to make a difference than live to regret simply standing by while someone else was being hurt.
Played too much Halo, he could have been killed.
Don't worry, he would have just respawned.
Played too much Halo, he could have been killed.
You're right I bet he had no idea
A former security guard
How on earth did someone go from working security to programing?
Cutting him off, Fletcher pulled his own gun on the fleeing suspect then, amazingly, managed a citizen's arrest, handcuffing the suspect with his dad's old police cuffs
Give him a medal.
fight between two men escalate into a shootout, with one man wounded while the other tried to escape.
Did he encounter one of these in progress? -snipped jumping to unfair conclusions- EDIT: What on earth could they have been talking about to cause it to escalate to that?
How on earth did someone go from working security to programing? Give him a medal.
People have hobbies and aspirations, y'know?
How on earth did someone go from working security to programing? Give him a medal.
He probably worked somewhere so that he could get the money to go to college.
Played too much Halo, he could have been killed.
Well considering he actually succeeded he must have known what he was doing
Well, that's just plain awesome.
Did he encounter one of these in progress? -snipped jumping to unfair conclusions- EDIT: What on earth could they have been talking about to cause it to escalate to that?
There is a video on the original article, I would've embedded it but their player sucks.
That is so awesome. Nice to know they aren't only practicing in games
Lol if you watch the video in the article, you can see he had an Admiral Akbar shirt on the night of the arrest.
He finished that fight.
I'll bet he carries the sniper pistol from Halo 1.
It's great to see people not just run and hide any time there's trouble, but actually try to make a difference in their society despite it not being their responsibility.
Everyone would run and hide if they weren't as lucky as this employee, what are you even saying? That running and hiding during a shootout is bad? I think them not dying is pretty good for society too.
What kind of nerd carries handcuffs around with them if they aren't going to be used for BDSM?
What kind of nerd carries handcuffs around with them if they aren't going to be used for BDSM?
The kind that saves peoples lives
What kind of nerd carries handcuffs around with them if they aren't going to be used for BDSM?
My friend does off duty, but he's an actual cop, so I guess that rules him out.
Personally, I'd rather die helping someone and/or trying to make a difference than live to regret simply standing by while someone else was being hurt.
You say that, but when the time actually comes, could you?
How on earth did someone go from working security to programing? Give him a medal.
Article says he's IT not a programmer.
If there had been a real cop on the case they would have probably gone: "HOLY SHIT THAT GUY HAS A GUN! OPEN FIRE!"
