What they called it was 'the whoring out of our franchise' or something.
Even Bungie knew it, heh.
But Bungie doesn't even make the Halo Series anymore. Why would this story come out now if this happened years ago? Maybe they are going to make Bungie's next FPS into another strategy game. Who knows.
I only ever owned Halo Wars because I got it for free. Just recently I traded it in for Halo: Combat Evolved on the PC. It was worth it.
Halo was originally meant to be an RTS wasn't it? A bit funny then that when it's finally made into one, it's so mediocre and ends up almost single-handedly destroying one of the best RTS devs in the biz.

Dont get the dislike for Halo wars, its pretty much the best RTS on console. Controls were easy too use and the game was quite enjoyable. Also have to admit the cinematics were a nice touch as well. Halo was even originally meant to be an RTS anyway in the planning of it when Halo was originally meant for mac, so theres nothing really wrong with Halowars.. [editline]29th September 2012[/editline] Only thing that could've made it better was if it were on the PC
I know Bungie was pretty annoyed with Microsoft for ages. One of the most publicly obvious ones was the whole mess with Halo: Recon/ODST. They had to completely cancel their whole ARG they were going to do because Microsoft felt the game wasn't ready / wanted it to become a standalone game.
I played the demo a few times over and even considered buying it. I thought it was decent.
RIP Ensemble AoE was a good game before AoE:Online
Halo Wars was amazing with friends, had extremely simplified controls and a great atmosphere.
Only reason Halo Wars was made was because of a mod of C&C generals was made and Bungie sued the hell out of the Modders, and any website that hosted or even talked about it. Then made it xbox only to make at attempt at more money grabbing.
The only reason I'm not a fan of Halo Wars is because I can not stand RTS games on the console. It just does not work for me. I'd LOVE to play it but the controls piss me off.

halo wars was ripped off from a couple of Cnc generals modders, then a little work was done to port it then it was dumped on the Xbox, even the gameplay mechanics are strangely simmilar to Cnc generals, along with some alpha screenshots from halogen the mod that Microsoft sent a lawyer out, confiscated ALL THE MODELS AND CODE and ordered them to disband and take down their website, nobody should forget that
Halo Wars wasn't a horrible game. It was just a missed opportunity in my opinion. It could have been a lot more.
I still play it all the time still. Its quite fun. I am disappointed about it not having some kind of sequel with similar game mechanics though.
If it were to have a sequel I would honestly love it to have space battle elements like "Starwars Empire at war" had. Sure, there are mods for such but no full halo mod ever seems to be completed with good quality.
The cutscenes were pretty slick and I still have the LE steelbook and the junk that goes in it. I remember the last mission almost gamebreakingly glitched. I couldn't get my spartans to stop focusing on something deep underground, nor to start running. It was a neat timewasting birthday gift and I absolutely adored the Arbiter in it, but that's about all I can give it.
RustySpannerz;37831384']RIP Ensemble AoE was a good game before AoE:Online
I dont get the hate with AoE:Online. Its not a bad game. Sure its not as good as AoE2, but none-the less. Im curious though, didnt Ensemble break up? Also who owns the Age of franchise and why wont they make AoE4 or AoM2?
I completely agree with Bungie and it's a shame that this was Ensemble's the last game they made before being shut down. The main thing I hated about Halo Wars was how predictable it was, when someone had Anders you knew they were just going to spam the one super unit so you had to spam the counter.

When I last played the multiplayer all I remember was seeing people using Forge which had upgraded tanks, stuff them full of Spartans and fill the population cap with them.

I enjoyed Halo Wars but I felt it was missing a lot, I know there is only so much you can do with an Xbox but I feel it could have been better.
If it was on pc, it probably would have sold about 3 times as much.

Expected Halo Wars 2 or Halo Wars PC. How is the op relevant to today?
Expected Halo Wars 2 or Halo Wars PC. Halo Wars was a terrible, broken game, that still isn't fixed, and is a disgrace to RTS gaming.
wow ok bungie disliked halo wars and then puts little to no effort into Reach and then fucks off to do other shit. Class S developers right here.
