christ I could get 3 terrabytes for that amount and have 25 euro left over...
its only now 360 is getting something that size? my prebuilt from 2007 had 500 to begin with
woah, a whopping 500gb, for the low low cost of a fucking 3tb drive on newegg, and all for a last-gen console on the cutting edge as usual with their premium line of xbox products
its kinda sad that it took 9 years to make a 500gb hard drive while on ps3 you can have 2x the amount of space
They had to wait for the 500GB drives to drop enough to get their ridiculous profit margins. What other reason is there for this amount of lateness?
Why?
wow people comparing 500GB on a dedicated games console to 500GB on a PC designed to handle all types of media and applications for different purposes 500GB is pretty big when you're only playing games (which you don't even have to install btw) or watching films
whats funny is you can just buy the smallest capacity hard-drive, buy a 1TB hard drive, and pull the crappy one out of the hard drive case and put the high capacity one in, my brother's had a 1TB drive for like ages by doing this

All these PS+ games I'm never going to play :v:

The Western Digital ones?
It doesn't change the fact that they're abusing of their proprietary interfaces to get huge profit margins in lieu of the user's experience.
Not a proprietary interface. Just a proprietary case. I decased an Xbox 360 Arcade drive and shoved it into the port on my Xbox 360 Slim, no case. Worked just fine until I sold the thing. They use a standard SATA+Power connector, the only thing special is the cases.
So what does what the hard drive is used for have to do with it being released this late and being priced the same as a 500gb pc hard drive was 5 years ago?
Absolutely nothing. Microsoft is trying to make as much money out of the last gen before forcing everyone to switch over to the next gen. You can put a 2.5" drive in one of these enclosures and it'll work the exact same as their $100 drive except $40 cheaper.
??? what is the point?

It just has the Xbox name in the plastic encasing. You're basically paying 6x the cost for it. It's worse than Alienware

That mb/$ is almost as hyperinflated as HP's printer ink cl/$

When you're selling modified Micro SD cards for twice the price of your own Micro SD cards and chunks of plastic for $50, it isn't exactly a good route either. The $120 for a 500GB HDD pricing is retarded but Sony does pull some shit.
I feel like, considering the fact that game installs are mandatory and 50gb now, 500GB would be the bare minimum standard on launch. What the hell were they beforehand?
wow people comparing 500GB on a dedicated games console to 500GB on a PC designed to handle all types of media and applications for different purposes 500GB is pretty big when you're only playing games (which you don't even have to install btw) or watching films
It's really not that much when games are getting to be 20-30GB each. I haven't run out of space on my PS4 yet but I will by the time Phantom Pain comes out early next year. Luckily physical media installs in like a minute so I can just swap them out whenever and keep the important digital games on the hard drive.

The vita storage issue is the reason I don't have one, though so yeah :v:
meanwhile for everyone else... [t]http://i.imgur.com/BHOPsrT.png[/t] (normal price is $80)

This exact Sony product can be found in stores for the actual retail price of $19.99. This inflated price is the fault of resellers trying to make a profit off the scarcity of the item. Do not buy.
-snip, not true for xbone anymore-
