Microsoft exclaims at their international presence for their search engine. While continuing to provide a sub-par experience to anyone outside of the United states, regardless if it's an English based country or interface language.
For example
A search for the US election while using a English Australian session would return a basic result, consisting of perhaps the date and maybe a few relevant people.
A search using an English American session, not only provides the above information, but also in depth results from each state, prediction, personal values. The like.
Compared to Google, which when developed, are released to a majority of the userbase on day 1
Isn't Bing the default search provider on the iPhone?

I remember that being so,
if you asked siri to google something, she would, but back when I used it, if you didn't specify google, it used bing
Im pretty sure most of those searches are accidental queries by cortana

Either that or porn.
A lot of them are also just users who aren't tech savvy enough to install a different internet browser, and just use IE or edge to browse the internet.
Bing is nothing to boast about. If anything they should be ashamed of how little effort they put into that entire platform.

or if anyone's using bing rewards
Isn't Bing the default search provider on the iPhone?
no but it's the exclusive search provider for OSX

Or me installing Windows and searching for Google Chrome.
how many of the searches are just the word "google"
I'd be curious to know the percentage if you take out accidental searches, porn, and binging Google.
binging Google.
90% of the 33% of searches right there.

You mean the real statistic and not the fake one Microsoft wants to spread?
all those searches are because people want their bing reward points lmao
Bing is for porn.
bing is also default on a lot of TVs and the xbox
And the article also says it includes yahoo and AOL search queries, since these just use Bing now
Alternative headline:
33% of Searches on the internet are for the word "Chrome"
Every now and then, I have to use Bing, because Google just will not show the results I'd like to see. It happens often with porn, but it also occasionally happens with other searches, too.

white people
I wonder how much of that is "How to permanently disable Cortana"
When Microsoft is exclaiming that Bing is "bigger than you think", they probably realize how unpopular it is.
One thing Bing does pretty well though is the image search. I find it works better than Google's, even if you don't get as many results. You get more related images you can flip through like a slide show, and unlike Google, it doesn't scroll to top on its own sometimes when you're miles deep in thumbnails
Probably half of the reason why Bing is as big as it is would be because it's the default search engine. Especially considering business users, where choice of search engine is hardly a priority. The only reason why I use Bing as work is because I can't be bothered to change to Google.
This is like when Google claimed they had a ton of Google+ members when 95% of them were forced to have one when they were merged with their Youtube accounts. I imagine half of Bing's search results are searching for other search engines/browsers or accidental.
Not to say it's completely useless, it's just why would i use it 99% of the time.
Thats like someone boasting about how their anything doesn't catches on fire.
Bing's biggest downfall tbh is that it's not Google. Like I tell people about Bing Rewards and people say "WOW, THEY HAVE TO PAY YOU TO USE IT" and its like
Yeah no shit. Their competitor is fucking Google, they're going to need a pretty strong edge to entice people to use it. Google as a brand name just became the generic term for what it is, like Windex or Band-Aid, they're so big.
tbh I love windows 10 but almost all of what microsoft does is absolutely garbage
even Win10 isn't that great but because of the lack of support Linux has and how locked down iOS/Mac is its the best thing for me
I doubt bing is as stupendously bad as skype is, or as over-excited as xbox is, but Microsoft is really really bad at just making a thing be a choice you make and open. They force so much bullshit into a lot of their products that its tiring.
The fact that you're forced to use bing for win10 searches is what does it for me. They do this shit so much that its insane. GFWL was the absolute worst of it. They can't just let you go "No, I don't want ads on skype" or "No, I want to use Google as my search engine", you have to be forced to enjoy it.

that isn't to say that google is like, a saint either (G+ and youtube lmao fuck off), or that MS is the only company that does this, but holy fuck.

macOS isn't really locked down like iOS, maybe for theming but apart from that it's pretty flexible
