The Religion Graveyard- The final resting place of all godly debates.

Has anyone been pissed at the fact that there has been endless religion threads spamming the board? Well, fear not everybody, I have made this thread to end all religion threads for good.
My point of view on the situation is that people should just keep their big mouths shut about their beliefs. If you believe in a religion, that's wonderful and continue to do so. However, athiests and agnostics, stop trying to think if there is a God or not, because you will never find sufficient proof from anything anybody tells you. This is because every theory in the world has a certain amount of doubt, and you will never find a theory that fully satisfies all your questions. In other words, let people believe what they want to believe, and people who don't believe in anything stop trying to force your beliefs.
Therefore, all of these religion threads need to just stop. If you want to dispute, nobody is going to stop you, but just post it here so the heated debates dwindle to one thread. Thank you for all of your support.
I have also added a poll so people can see where they stand.
Does anyone yet to see that science is nothing but understanding and religion just regulates and sets human purpose. It's two separate things, two things you can choose to live without the other. Both can be manipulated to do harm, both has it's ignorance
you asked in the other thread whether anyone wanted this thread made. you got like 6 disagrees, and you made this thread anyway. what the fuck are you thinking?
how is it even possible to "kind of" believe in a religion
You can't really debate religion since it is based on faith rather than logic.

how is it possible to pick and choose from the bible.
how is it even possible to "kind of" believe in a religion
That people believe some things about a religion, but have their own beliefs about other aspects.

Maybe you believe in a God type figure but you don't agree with the current religions?
You can't really debate religion since it is based on faith rather than logic.
it seems in every debate its an argument about whether or not believing in a god is logical. (it isnt) so clearly not everyone shares your views.

I've been lurking since '08.
It is a mostly atheist board so it is bound to be a bit one sided, so arguments are bound to arise when people bring the topic. We have seen plenty of threads saying "don't argue about religion, believe what you want" but they have all been to no avail.
Just what we need. Another religion thread.

Do the other people follow the sticky when making these? This thread is to discourage people to make these threads and encourage them to put it here instead.

You bring nothing new to the long debate that has lasted through man kind's history, it's pointless

That may be true, but it may discourge them to talk about it on here. That is my main concern.
To anyone who is thinking of using the evolution argument against religion - read this. Evolution and religion can get along.
All credit goes to Foobar and Zinayzen
Genesis
1 In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2*Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of [the] watery deep; and God’s active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters.
Take note that there wasn't a time specified between verses 2 and 3. In other words, God could've created the heaven and earth, (undefined time passes, then verse 3-5 takes place which a "day" in gods time could be a thousand years)
3. And God proceeded to say: “Let light come to be.” Then there came to be light. 4*After that God saw that the light was good, and God brought about a division between the light and the darkness. 5*And God began calling the light Day, but the darkness he called Night. And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, a first day.

I'd like to add to this that the Hebrew word for "day", which escapes me, is the same word for age or era. That is to say, we define days as 24 hour periods because that's the way we started to do it, but it's certainly not necessarily what's outlined in Genesis.
If you take THAT into account, reading the first chapter of Genesis thinking of eras instead of days, it's highly likely it's referring to the evolutionary process. Which is why I believe what I do. Namely that evolution is a tool.
