I'd honestly prefer 720p/60fps over 1080p/30 because smoothness is more important to me than resolution
I've played at various framerates throughout my times with games, so I can deal with 30. Since I usually play on large 1080p screens and monitors, I'll usually stick with them. It's what I've been used to.
Ideally, of course, I prefer 1080p and 60fps.
It also depends on the game: a puzzle game usually doesn't require a high framerate but more action-orientated ones like twitch shooters need the higher framerate to get the best experience.
I would prefer 720p 60fps over 1080p 30fps. I can handle a little blur, but having lower than 60 fps makes the game feel gittery and makes me feel ill if its on a computer screen.
144p/144fps
You get bonus points when the two match.
1080p/30. I much prefer a clearer res.
720p/60fps
mostly because my screen doesn't support 1080p
720p/60FPS
I prefer performance over visuals, especially in twitch shooters and fighting games.
That said I don't mind 30FPS in slower paced games, as long as it's a steady framerate.
1440p, 120fps
In all seriousness, it depends on the game like Gen Crumpets said.
720p/60fps
smoothness over detail, but it depends on the situation
also just the number 720p seems better than 1080p
720p/60fps
Its just better for my eyes. My display isn't the biggest, so more frames would be a wise choice.
2160p/15fps
resolution matters
I've never played something with 1080p and i've never played a game that's not older than 3 years in 60fps so I honestly don't know :v:
1080 @ 60
Why can't we have both?
In all seriousness it depends on the game, I.E. DS2's 60fps just feels like it works, though DS1 in 60fps, despite how silky smooth it looks, doesn't really feel right.
For strategy games like AoE, resolution.
For quick reaction games like Dota 2 and Super Hexagon, fps.

Because this poll was probably made with consoles in mind.
480i/24fps
I use consoles with a big TV, so the difference between 720p and 1080p isn't hugely apparent to me. The framerate is though, so 720p/60fps for me
1440p @ 120 FPS or above.
I can't even tell a difference between 720 and 1080 so higher frames is better for me
420p/420fps
I'll go for 60p and 720fps, because good framerates.
Personally I'm ok with 900p if it means the game is able to keep a solid 60fps
I've been playing Metro Redux on the Xbone and when compared to the PS4 version on the same tv (for a fair comparison) the difference in resolution is hardly noticeable.
720p/60fps.
largely cause my current monitor is only 1280X1024(and this isn't truely HD 1080p).

The question is what you prefer not what your monitor can handle.
For me the difference between 720p and 1080p is really only noticeable when compared side to side but the difference between 30 and 60 fps is like night and day.
30p/1080fps
videogames, 60/720
movies, 30/1080
Fast paced games 60 FPS
Cinematic games 30 FPS
There is really no contest
Depends on the kind of game I guess. But really it's not something I'd even consider; resolution is the very last setting I would lower if I need more fps.
