Activist interrupts Obama during speech at Pride event
Immigrant rights activist identified the woman as Jennicet Gutiérrez, a founding member of FAMILIA TQLM, an immigrant rights organization.
“You shouldn’t be doing this. Can we escort this person out. Can we have this person removed please,” a frustrated Obama said over the microphone.
At one point Vice President Joe Biden held his hands up to his face in frustration after the exchange went on for over two minutes.
Why did no one respond to the ongoing fracas for over two minutes? By then, she was escorted out by someone who seemingly looked like a receptionist. Even though it is "his house," you'd generally expect a response time quicker than two minutes.

It should be noted that the individual was a trans woman, so it's 'she was escorted out', not he.

who she was doesn't matter, and I'm talking from a pro LGBTQ standpoint
Only making herself and the community she represents look bad.

I was correcting Starpluck exclusively on the use of pronouns, not anything else.

I'm actually a trans woman myself and I think this was pretty rude of her to interrupt during a speech, even for a good cause.
Anybody who interrupts a speech for whatever reason to me is really cringy
Like it's annoying, and sure you want to be acknowledged but there's a better platform to do it then yell out
"SSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
What the fuck, is he holding a speech for snakes? :v:

Snakes are horribly underrepresented in the LGBT community.
Holy shit I've never seen Obama look so smug in that picture.
Biden has two looks
Kinda eh but :)
Greatly disappointed
White House Pride speech
> Delete House
> White Pride speech
> Obama white supremacist confirmed

Even if the activist has some degree of truth in their words, interrupting a speech that is still a positive step in the right direction is pretty low.
That idiotic monotone is the most annoying way of speaking I've ever heard.
I'm glad that the people around her seemed to at least attempt in handling the situation maturely. Before she got too carried away, at least -- the man next to her was putting his hand on her shoulder, trying to get her attention and personally quiet her -- which seemed somewhat contrary to the collective 'SHHHHHHHHHHH' -ing that tends to not do much if the person is still yelling.

He's most likely thinking "I'm going to be late for something else because of this"

Why didn't diamond biden do anything??
Really long response time for the Secret Service. That's a bit unsettling. He asked multiple times for her to be removed and they took forever to do it.

It's more like a "oh here we go :I "
Yeah I mean who cares about real issues that aren't talked about at all by the administration, to the point where you need to actually interrupt the president to get any statement at all about it, let's all just continue to pat each other on the backs because it took 50 years to get universal gay marriage.

Yeah because it took so long let's just not celebrate the victory at all and get mad about it instead
Only making herself and the community she represents look bad.
From what she's saying it seems like she's fine with non-lgbt illegal immigrants being deported but against the deportations of lgbt illegal immigrants.

Plus they're already in trouble for letting that armed security guard into an elevator with him. They neglected both to tell the guard he cannot have his weapon, and to make sure he didn't have one.

So basically she's a crazy bitch, gotcha!
AHAHAHA, all the people just constantly going "shhhhh". Its like a really fucking timid yet angry crowd of snakes.

Yeah because Washington politics are easy as fuck and this wasn't a monumental victory for LGBT rights.

The marriage issue is good and all, BUT the social stigma, employment discrimination, business discrimination, lynching rate among trans and gay people, homelessness among gay people, and issues like what this women bring up with the way the federal government treats trans people, are issues which most people would agree are bigger issues. Wonderful, we made a baby step in the right direction and a couple of big steps in the process of doing so. We still need to finish the race.
her byline is like madlibs for minorities
"Jennicet Gutiérrez is an undocumented trans Latina leader with FAMILIA TQLM in the campaign for #Not1More lgbtq deportation."
also lets be honest, if you're an undocumented, interrupting the POTUS is a pretty good way to get ICE on your ass

remember that the amount of social change we've seen in our lifetime let alone the past 100 years is unprecedented in human history
