I've been having this problem with imovie lately, it used to work fine, now these artifacts appear in the video after editing it even slightly. It's really starting to annoy me, I've put together the same video in imovie from scratch THREE times and every single time I export it, these artifacts show up.
example:

iMovie also crashes every now and then with this error message
I don't know if they're artifacts or not, I don't really care, I just want to know how I can fix this, it's a real pain!
iMac G5 (iSight), Mac OS X (10.5.8)
(copy-paste from an apple support thread because I don't think I'll have much luck there)
Get iLife '11, and get rid of that G5.
Sorry for the doucebag answer, but how did you record that minecraft footage? Those artifacts could be a sign of something wrong with the video data. Does it do this with other videos and/or video sources?
I'm pretty sure it isn't problem with the recording software as the same thing happened when I tried to edit some files I downloaded.

I plan on getting a new computer soon but I'll have to make do with this for now.
