I've looked pretty much everywhere for a tutorial on how to put Ubuntu/Linux or any OS that will help. All download links are dead and the guides are outdated. I'm not familiar with Ubuntu/Linux. But I was wondering if anyone on Facepunch has their PS3 booted with Ubuntu or Linux and could help me with the process of doing this to my own PS3, because like I said before every tutorial is outdated, no download links are up, and I'm unfamiliar with the operating system. It would be of great help.
PS3 is totally secure right now. Nobody has found a way in that Sony hasn't patched up. So the homebrew ps3 community is pretty much dead
Possibly using a Ps3 with very old firmware that has linux compatability, if it's a recent Ps3 or has been patched regularly then your options are nil.

It's not fully dead, some people are still using 3.55 and homebrew is still being developed
Wasn't it possible to roll back to the firmware version with Linux compatibility?
No.

The community won't be growing though, it'll just slowly shrink until the community dissolves completely.
Fuckin' Sony.

You need to be either on 3.55 or 3.56. If you aren't then you need to downgrade. To downgrade you need to buy the E3 flasher and use that.
