I was playing and did what always happens when you have a glass of something next to your right hand: watered the keyboard.
What I did next was to turn it upside down and shake it, then I ran to the bathroom to pour water over it. I was in a bit of a rush so I forgot to take out the batteries before pouring water on it (oops). I then put it upside down on the floor on a towel for a while before removing a few keys and shaking it and using the towel on it. I then proceeded to take out the batteries (._.) and went to get a hair dryer for it.
The point of the thread:
How many think that my soda drenched keyboard will ever work again? I will try it out once the battery hatch is dry and either curse heavily or celebrate.
Agree if you think it will work, disagree if you think I'm fucked and rainbow if you think that some of my keys will hate me. Dumb if you want to punch me in the face.
Keyboard info:
Wireless, 4Tech, 1½ year old and in good condition (was at least)
Status update:
IT'S ALIVE! Working without problems, and not a single key appears to be broken! Rejoicing atm <3
"I soaked my keyboard in soda, so I then decided I should soak it in water"
Wow
Getting sugar stuck in it sucks though, water will dry off
It won't ever work again. Period.
Buy a new keyboard
I'm afraid it is terminal. It has six months to live.

Are you sure its not lupus?
You must tell it's relatives that you murdered it.
Then face their wrath.
This happened to me awhile ago, but I wasn't dumb enough to go pouring more shit on it.
3 of my keys hate me, but I've learned to live without it.

Also I doubt your keyboard will work again.
No use crying over spilled soda....or was it milk?
I think I'll just let the wireless mouse stay in the cardboard box. I don't want to face it after this. :/
Put it in the oven and heat it up to dry it out.
It worked for that guys graphics card.

We originally thought it was keybacteria, but it seems to have spread rapidly. The keyboard will not live much longer.

Give me 7 syringes of Adrenaline and 6 syringes of Morphine. STAT.
I'm going to need to use it all if I want to save this keyboard.
For it, however, a glass of orange juice.
Buy a giant bag of rice (I'm serious, look it up), stick the keyboard into the bad and seal it. Let it be in the bag for 1-2 days. The rice absorbs all the moist. Worked for my old Sony Ericosson W810i.
Washing it is the best thing to do, when dried out it will be fine, however the soda is corrosive and will not be fine
just make sure it dries out fine, I did the same thing before and it worked, and recently did the same thing to an IBM model M :suicide: that is now drying out.

I don't think water dries anything off. It may clean off the stickiness, but it definitely won't dry it.
With my old keyboard, I spilled an estimated total of 30 cups of coffee, 3 cups of hot chocolate, and about 5 cups of pop in it. It worked until one of the cups of pop made the keys act up and a Q became an L. I ended up taking it completely apart (circuit board too) and washed it off. It didn't work at all afterwards so I bought a new one. About 3 months later, I needed a keyboard and forgot it was the broken one, plugged it in and it worked just fine.
I will never forget you, keyboard. <3

My new (which is old now) G15 keyboard I kept better care of it and haven't spilled a single glass of anything in it. Works like a charm.
I poured so much coke and other various beverages on my old keyboard, never had any issues.

Hurr durr reading comprehension :V My text says that sugar gets stuck in the keyboard, water will dry off i.e not get stuck. :)
I spilt a glass of koolaid all over my old keyboard a few years ago, it died instantly.
I've spilled loads of shit on this keyboard. Everything works, though a few keys get stuck a bit.
If yours has any problems it'll probably be because of the battery compartment getting soaked or something I presume.
Put it in the microwave for 5 minutes, then it will work.
Make sure you put in a bowl too, along with a metal fork.
"I soaked my keyboard in soda, so I then decided I should soak it in water"
Wow
yes, rinsing the keyboard in water is fine
what's so "wow" about it
i did that then got a new keyboard from CEX for £2.50
not really a big deal

tin foil, light bulb and a cd are also necessary
I dropped my keyboard into my bathtub of water, waited for 6 hours for it to dry, and it still works.
I'm using it to type this out as we speak.
...your right hand: watered the keyboard.
Since you poured water over it, It will grow bigger... If not, you are screwed
Nice job, fatty.
