Didn't Volvo do similarly with seatbelts?

I think they did with the 3-point seatbelts if I'm not mistaken.

Good. Sharing tech for the betterment and safety of all, we need more of that.
what would be really cool is if when you bought your car you signed up for a ICE account
each car gets a customized qr that not only says how to open me up but also pulls up your name, address, next of kin, etc

and what if the QR code is damaged in the crash?
and what if the QR code is damaged in the crash?
It says in the article that there are multiple tags spread out on places which are very rarely damaged at the same time.

It might be useful to also have details about the driver/owner on a QR code as well.
Things like known medical conditions, allergies etc.

Easier to just have that in your wallet and you won't have to worry about your privacy in case you sell the car
What if the vehicle is so damaged beyond recognition that the QR code is unreadable?
since it is rare that both areas are badly damaged in an accident.
Oh, I answered my own question.
My parents' Volvo triggers an emergency signal if it crashes. So if you are unconscious and alone in the middle of nowhere, you can still be found.
