Studying the Evolutionary Trends of the New Developing Phenomena: Day 239
Fascinating. Just fascinating. It’s been quite a while since my research began, but all the research is finally coming together, falling into place like puzzle pieces.
It is funny how not even a year ago I was still the common man biologist, studying meiosis and mitosis, the growth of cells and other such frivolity. To think of what I was once subjected to, having no intriguing scientific event to keep my interest for longer than the span of a week, and not a single thing that gave me delight to study and analyze.
And now, here I am, witnessing before my eyes entire strands of genetic data alter overnight, and mutations so immense that, if any of my colleagues were still with me, would be awe-stricken by the results.
I have witnessed events in the composition of this new phenomena so fast and so tiny that they could be hardly considered to have occurred at all. Where others may have believed that this new phenomena were a harbinger of damnation or a mere world’s end, I perceive it to be the greatest, and ironically, most significant, thing to have befallen, for lack of a better word, the human race in the many years of its existence, quite possibly rivaling Edison’s invention or the taming of fire itself.
I am allowing myself to get off subject. Now back to my research. I have noticed that it seems with each new day they alter in some subtle way. Some days they clutter in strangely patterned herds. Most of the time they wander about aimlessly. And a few rare times they will simply stand resolute, staring off into the distance, like turkeys who drown themselves in the rain by gazing mouth agape into the heavens.
Earlier this morning, as I sat atop my tower looking out at them while enjoying a nice cup of coffee, I noticed two males assault a woman who had appeared to be limping. She looked a little more beaten than the others, more dried blood on her blouse and sores riddling her arms. She seemed to be faltering from the rest of the group, who had assembled in an odd square shape not an hour before. The two men quickly tore her to pieces, and, oddly enough, disposed of the remains as cleanly as they could manage.
I was astonished. Not only did this seem to be some sort of strange tribal self-imposed Darwinism, but the two assailants targeted and cleaned up the resulting mess with such precision that I was intrigued as to why they were motivated to do such a useless thing as clean up after themselves at all. Could this quite possibly mean that they are beginning to develop a sort of mechanism intent on keeping themselves tidy?
It is hard to believe such a thing, really, since they are all so dirty. Honestly though, it is purely fascinating nonetheless. Just fascinating.
Not quite sure what I just read, but I'm coming down from some good acid and it sounds fucking mind blowing. You should continue this shit.
I'm quite liking it, but your story does not really imply how these men were capable of tearing the woman to pieces. Maybe if you add some details on the strength or what techniques they used.
Here is a part that bothered me:
"Earlier this morning, as I sat atop my tower looking out at them while enjoying a nice cup of coffee, I noticed two males assault a woman who had appeared to be limping. She looked a little more beaten than the others, more dried blood on her blouse and sores riddling her arms."
I bolded the parts that are pulling down the atmosphere, current standard and style. You should remove the tower part, possibly simply imply he's observing from a high point. Remove the coffee part entirely, it doesn't fit the current atmosphere and it's an unnecessary detail that doesn't help the plot. I would also the remove the bloody blouse. It breaks your current flow of details and makes her significant in a way that doesn't fit the following events.n- Simply, the narrator nor the reader has close enough of a relationship with the woman to actually care about her damn blouse.
