Girl falls down sinkhole, cab driver rushes to help
A teenage girl in China learned the hard way that walking and talking on a cell phone can be hazardous to your health — after falling into a sinkhole.
The incident, which was captured on surveillance video in the city of Xian, shows the teen chatting away as she walks down the sidewalk.
The girl fails to notice a pair of safety cones, which were placed in an area where water had eroded the ground underneath the pavement.
Just as the teen reaches the far right side of the video, she can be seen breaking through the weakened cement and falling into the hole.
The girl fell some 20 feet, according to London’s Telegraph.
Luckily a passing cab driver saw the girl fall, stopped and climbed into the sinkhole to help her.
"I called out to her but she didn't respond," cabbie Wang Wei told the Telegraph. “After I shook her a little, she came to. The dirt kept showering down on us and the kid couldn't stop crying."
Firefighters eventually arrived and were able to pull both of them out.
The accident took place on March 25, according to QMI news agency, but footage only recently surfaced on YouTube.
The girl's family used the surveillance video to track down the cab driver and thank him for rushing to the girl's aid, KVUE News reported.

Saw this on the news, that cabbie is an awesome dude. If he hadn't had gotten out i'm not sure what would have happened as no one else really saw it happen. The other girl might have but she didn't seem to acknowledge it until the cab driver rushed over.
Wonder how deep it went.
Also hope some lazy person didn't just make the sidewalk over a big hole and call it good.
Holy shit! It's like the ground just opened up and ate her.
It's like the floor was made of cardboard.
that was scary to watch, thank god the girl is ok
It probably didn't go down too far. She most likely just fell into a storm drain.
Regardless, it must have been scary as shit and she could have been seriously injured.
Holy shit that's one awesome cab driver.
Imagine the shock of just falling through the ground like that
It's like the most unexpected thing ever
Where are the safety cones?
Those small white things?

They looked like some variation of those tall yellow poles, so people don't try to drive on the sidewalk or something.

Well this was in China.

Sinkholes can appear over time, by water leakage eroding the ground and whatnot. But seeing as how this occured in China, I am inclined to believe someone skimped on costs.

That's probably a decent estimate.
That's it, never touching sidewalks again!
I understand that they all wanted to help the girl, but if you see the ground give way under someone, it's probably not a good idea to go running over to the giant hole. The ground could have given way even further, then instead of one girl you'd have a dozen bystanders in need of help. Oh, and using a live wire as a rope isn't a good idea either.
I think the hole she fell down used to be a manhole that's been paved over.
It's like something out of a cartoon.
Of course he would rush, Asians have super powers.
And no shitty pun to go with it.
I don't see any safety cones. Those small white blocks can't be it, considering it's on the other side of the video too.
Imagine what the person on the phone was hearing.
It was the japanese

I'm surprised people helped her, because whenever we see something terrible happen in China, everyone just walks by the injured person etc.

He said cardboard not plastic and lead paint.
I don't want to go outside ever again

You tend to see that everywhere.

No, I mean as in videos where people get hit by cars, lie writhing in pain in the middle of the road yet people just drive by.
I also remember a video with a girl jumping off a bridge, lands on the motorway, seriously injured, no one helps her.

Not all people are dicks. Remember, this is a country of over a billion people. If that kind of thing was commonplace, there'd be millions of those videos.

this was in the related videos
I've heard of people having trouble with dropped calls but this is ridiculous.
China passed a good Samaritan law after that incident with the toddler being run over by multiple cars. It was a huge embarrassment for them, so now they take this sort of thing extremely seriously.
