Valve boss Gabe Newell is IndustryGamers' 2011 Reader's Choice for Person of the Year, as determined by a poll of nearly 12,000 readers, which we opened on Friday and just closed today. Newell came on strong, garnering nearly 50% of all the votes. It was a tough battle between Newell and Bethesda's Todd Howard for a while, until Newell surged ahead and maintained the lead. Howard placed second with a very respectable 3,873 votes (almost a third of respondents). With the exception of a database hack, Valve's Steam had a very solid year. And Valve itself produced a follow-up to the hit Portal. The game went on to sell more than 3 million copies. Newell has also been outspoken on the topic of piracy and DRM, and how he believes good service effectively eliminates the problem. Once again, congratulations to Gabe Newell!
http://www.industrygamers.com/news/valves-gabe-newell-wins-readers-choice-person-of-the-year/ Our glorious king!
he is a great man
Great in every dimension! All hail Gabe!
Just goes to show, Gabe, even if we joke about your weight and complain about delays, we still love you. [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/img]
Those glasses suit him so well.
whooh!
-snip- I suppose this was in poor taste
Well deserved IMO
He gets fatter with every year, look at the size of that head
hey that's not nice he's trying to lose weight
Well, he's pretty much my favourite person in games right now.
He's right. I have never pirated any of valve's games. Thats because they aren't a complete pain in the ass to use.
believes good service effectively eliminates the problem.
This right here, even if Gabe was a huge moneygrubbing dick, would make him worthy of this praise. Valve's one of the only gaming companies out there that operates under customer satisfaction and common sense these days, not just how much monies they can rake in in one sweep. And that's got a lot to do with that big glorious bastard.
I think he should get the "giving a fuck" award and the "oh shit he was right" award.
Well, I think this was well deserved. Very well deserved.
Good job, Gabe. We all love you.
Gabe Newell is a solid rock in the stormy game industry, and he has the body to show for it.
You go Gabe.
He's right. I have never pirated any of valve's games. Thats because they aren't a complete pain in the ass to use.
I buy Valve games because they deserve the money.

I do belive this was posted in another thread, but be advised, its a fat joke. [sp]Gabe Newell is so fat he has to noclip around the office[/sp]
That's good. Gabe is probably in my top five game developers of all time.
What's so special about Todd Howard?
What's so special about Todd Howard?
He's one of the biggest liars in the world, that deserves praise, I guess.
