blizzard's marketing strategy is genius
overwatch is what everyone's talking about right now
I really hope it won't take long for them to add more content such as maps, only reason why I'm hesitant on buying it.
I would honestly like to see some OW version of 2Fort
I have a lot of geeky wear for a bunch of games, and I have noticed in public how much people compliment me wearing my Overwatch jacket. It's surprising how wide this game got spread, but Blizzard has always been competent in their marketing skills.

AFAIK King's Row is the 2fort/Dust2 of hybrid maps
I would honestly like to see some OW version of 2Fort
Overwatch doesn't have enough 24/7 2fort widowmaker-only servers.

not really

they need to actually add capture the flag first
I would kill for 5cp as well
not really
what is this dumb trend of going "not really" without explaining why they think so
at least be different from the other dinguses and tell us why you disagree

they experimented with ctf in early stages of development and figured it wasn't fun
heroes with higher mobility would dominate the game which in turn meant that teams would be composed of stuff like 4 tracers and so on
not really
unfortunately, yes really
its overwatch 24/7 on all parts of the internet.

it may seem like that to you because you mostly frequent those threads but overwatch isnt that big of a deal
it looks like just another mumbo jumbo fantasy lasers pew pew multiplayer game to anyone who is old enough to have seen titles like tf2 come and go in terms of their artistic values. overwatch brings nothing new to the table and isnt enough to captivate anyone outside of the proportionally small fanboy groups that gobble up copy pasted titles like these almost out of reflex and not because the game is actually good
its literally a trend that will die in a few months time, unless of course they decide to add microtransactions and extensive paid character customization, in which case itll become another instant classic among those very same fanboys

and 6,999,991 of them are horribly incompetent and cause hilarious game losses that could be prevented otherwise

There are micro transactions in the form of buying the crates you get through leveling. It's all cosmetic shit, the maps and additional characters will be free, and it looks like "mumbo jumbo fantasy lasers" but definitely doesn't play like that.

I mean considering how obvious you made it that you don't really know anything about the game your opinion isn't really worth much in the first place. Generally speaking, you should probably educate yourself before making a claim.

"proportionally small fanboy groups"
interesting way of describing 7 million players
did overwatch kill your dog, or are you trying to be contrarian really really hard

regardless of what you think of the game itself my point still stands
this game would have never reached 7 million if it wasn't for how blizzard handled their marketing
this game could be hot garbage but it would still get popular because i haven't seen a company simultaneously maintain an animated series, a comic series, tons of gameplay trailers, all their promotions (eg gamestop and taco bell), and hype several betas all at once. the amount of effort they did for this game is insane

Honestly though, they still kept the map design full of it. Pretty every map has areas which would make sense if it was CTF or another back and forth mode.

"god I really wanna make a contrarian shitpost in this thread but I've got no idea what to do if someone calls me out on it... wait I know"
Why are you doing this lol
As I've said before: for whatever reason Overwatch doesn't interest me very much. I don't know why, it is just like that. However, my brother enjoys it and it makes me happy that he finally got in on the ground floor of "the next big thing". As opposed to all the times he's bought the years incarnation of Call of Duty 4-6 months after launch when people are already bored.
and 6,999,991 of them are horribly incompetent and cause hilarious game losses that could be prevented otherwise
Hey, I'm one of those
Overwatch is the most fun multiplayer FPS I've played in years. It honestly, in a lot of ways, reminds me of TF2 when it was new and fresh and fun as fuck.
Its like meth to be honest, you do a lot of it and its great at first but after you finish and it feels terrible and awful and then you wanna do it again.
Also this Waifu/fanclub thing is just a joke that no one in the thread at least takes seriously, mostly just an excuse to shit post and have fun about whos favorite champ is best.
I wish I could go online every day without hearing about this game.
I really hate it when people judge things without knowing anything about what they're talking about.
Wow dude I thought it was a MOBA????
Not kidding about how the game really nailed the marketing.
Almost all of my friends, gamers and non-gamers are hyped for the game or atleast think it looks cool. People here really only talk about CSGO, CoD and LoL, so having them talk about OW as well kinda shows that Blizzard, well, nailed the marketing and got a lot of people hyped.
