"I'm mostly okay with it: modders are getting paid"
That's a rather reductive statement for someone who claims to be a journalist to make. Rather than blurting out a presumably unfounded opinion, I would expect this guy to do some research and figure out how much these modders are getting paid, then write an article about that. The last time Bethesda did this with the steam workshop, the numbers were fairly appalling, certainly not something this knucklehead would be 'mostly okay with'.
But no, fuck it, may as well just give Beth $15 and phone in a couple of paragraphs. I know its a cliche to say it, but there really is no such thing as games journalism. You see examples like this every day. PCGamer may as well be paying him to sit on the john all day.
He could have donated that money to modders instead of paying Bethesda, a company that doesn't pay modders per sale.
Once a modder is finished with the mod and gives it to Bethesda, they only make the money they received in giving up their rights to said mod.
It should be noted that many of the mods are actually by Bethesda themselves. To my knowledge.

Such quality journalism.
Is it worth the $15 I spent? I'm going to have to say no. I've just been spoiled by all the wonderful and creative free Fallout 4 mods
Then why even spend a dime..:why:
I spent 15min reading PCGamer posts and here's what I got: IQ Minus 50
Used to think Paid Cuck Gournalism was just a 4chanism, but it's really starting to be an accurate assessment.
Could have gotten all that or better things for free and spend those 15$ directly on supporting modders via their Patreon/Donation pages instead of giving a share to Bethesda for a shit implementation of payed mods.

Or maybe have written an article explaining how donating to modders is a net positive for the entire community, but nah we need them fat marketing checks from zenimax to stave off our slowly dying clickbait website
I can't help but think he wrote this article with Todd putting a gun to his head.

Because he is seeing what it is about? Whether or not he agrees with it is one thing, but he is pretty much mandated to at least check out what you can get for the money. RPS did a similar thing where they spent $20 in free to play games to see how far it got them and then evaluated its worth.

It would still be a better article if instead of just going "this is what's on the creation club right now i guess" the author went more in depth and checked through the nexus and such to see what free equivalents are available and how they compare to the paid stuff.
