So every time I boot up my PC, the CPU fan is kicking on and being really loud. Naturally, this sent of a flag that the CPU is overheating, so I restarted and checked the BIOS to monitor the CPU temperature. It's been sitting at a healthy 98F and hasn't moved, yet the fan keeps going.
I already opened up the case and dusted out the fan and heat sink, yet it still keeps going. I don't know why it's on, and my PC is fairly new, so I can't imagine that it needs new thermal compound already. Any suggestions?
Defective fan/Motherboard fan heather is my guess, try connecting a case fan to the CPU heather and see if it also blows at the same speed.
My tower doesn't come with any case fans. The CPU fan is huge and has one of those plastic funnels that pulls air out the side and down into the heat sink. The rest is vents.

Ok, at this point, I put some strain on my CPU. I watched some HD videos, then played a couple of games for a while. I restarted again and my CPU is still at a level 98F. It's definitely not an overheating problem.
Just buy a new heat-sink that is quieter and better, and please use Celsius for computer temps.
I'm not sure how you call it but my guess is that the bearings are worn out. Get a new fan, their not that expensive.
