I'm considering buying a PS3 in the next couple of days/weeks since I can get one for pretty cheap, there are a wealth of good games for it and I probably won't get a PS4 for a little while.
So, I would like some recommendations for video games, please. I'm pretty happy playing any genre bar JRPGs (and I might be able to be convinced on Ni No Kuni if enough people say enough nice things about it) and I don't think Heavy Rain is a videogame so don't suggest that, please.
I have a shortlist of games that I definitely WILL get with the console:
- Red Dead Redemption / Undead Nightmare
- Dark Souls
- Ratchet & Clank HD Collection
Thanks.
Little big planet is tons of fun if you like silly platforming with an abundance of cute and customization.
I really like Burnout Paradise. May be one of the older games but I still love it.
The Last of Us
I hear that Journey is p. cool.
What I said in another thread, Journey. It's probably one of my favorite PS3 games.
Demon Souls
Same here. I've had the Wii and I guess i missed out on a lot of the gens games. Will the PS3 still be supported after PS4 launch? The 40gb model replaced with a 1TB hard drive allows me to play all Playstation games which is cool

I am sure Sony will still be active developing for the PS3 for some years after the PS4
I am curious as to what the appeal behind Journey is.
I'm more of a gameplay over 'experience' person and by the looks of things Journey is really short and costs $15 US or something. Is it just not for me?
Pick up the Resistance games, I've really enjoyed them, and the first is my favorite for the atmosphere it provides.
In order:
Resistance: Fall of Man
Resistance 2
Resistance 3
Uncharted series
I also recommended getting Plus, a plethora of games added to your library, savings and extras for a small cost.

It's an experience game. Sure it doesn't have much replayability going for it, but the plot, multiplayer and gameplay are seamlessly and perfectly integrated into the game. I wholeheartedly recommend it, it's what singeplayer/coop gaming should feel like imo.
Killzone 2 it's pretty basic fps on console. Pretty good graphics and good story (in my opinion). If you really start to like the series you might want to buy killzone 3 too. But story in that is much more idiotic compared to 2.
Also when GTA V comes out you should check it out too.
PS+
Seriously, fuck tons of games for little dosh.
Oh the Metal Gear Solid series, pick that HD trilogy and 4 up
Also when GTA V comes out you should check it out too.
That's the plan.
PS+

There's a library of games, every month 5 new games get added and 5 of the oldest gets removed. So it's sort of not retroactive in a sense.

Ratchet and clank games too.
Heavy Rain is a must
The Killzone series and Warhawk are worth checking out too.
A lot of people still play Warhawk.
The Sly cooper games, they're great.
Infamous 1 & 2
The Last of Us
Metal Gear Solid 4 (and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection)
Demon's Souls
Shadow of the Colossus HD (and ICO HD)
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
That's the plan.

You join and you get the games that are avaiable to you for that month, you will keep your games forever so once the new games are online next month you will still be able to download and play the games from last month and so on.
However, you cannot play your PS+ games once your membership ends.
Seriously more people need to take PS+, right now you get Uncharted 3, Demon Soul's and The Cave for free. Next month Battlefield 3, Saints Row 3 and Deus Ex HR

It has a really well told story, good characters, and a beautiful art style. Also you capture monsters like pokemon and feed them sweets so they like you more and get better stats, and they're adorable.

I really didn't like Journey. I get that it is an experience but I don't think it is GOTY like everyone else claims it to be.

Just watch this instead:

Grab the LBP games, they're fantastic.
Also the Ratchet and Clank: Future trilogy is pretty good, even if they're old PS3 games now.
I hear that Journey is p. cool.
But too short, however really good.
I would recommend Little Big Planet 2, Uncharted (any of them but for me the second one is the best) and if you couldn't play them on PS2: Jack & Daxter Trilogy, Sly Collection and Ico 6 Shadow of the Colossus.
If you're into RPGs, dragons dogma is pretty fun. You can try out a demo of it on the PS store still I believe.
Oh the Metal Gear Solid series, pick that HD trilogy and 4 up
No, wait for the legacy version.
OP are you me?
Anyway, nothing I can think of that aren't multiplats.
But if you want to go there, you can't lose with any Platinum Games game.
