As someone who has played mortal online i can say this.
Mortal online is basically a hardcore sandbox mmo, in the sense that everything you do is skill based. Every skill takes time to learn, so on and so forth.
PVE is very lack luster in the game due to skills not being tied to any form of leveling. The only pve that is normally done is to harvest/farm materials to make weapons and armor. You can go explore and do other things but it gets very boring.
PVP is pretty hardcore, a lot of it involves stat/skill stacking to make you over powered in one area. There are some people who can run stupid fast and you can never hit them or catch them. While others are tanky and take a stupid amount of damage. Then you got some people who can just hit really fucking hard. If you die, everything goes with you and the shit that was on you can be looted by the victor. What was a bonus for me is the fact I could carry my dead opponents head after i decapitated it.
At one point in time I carried many heads and would go up to the people who I killed who respawned and show them their head i took. Then I would eat it. After many incidents of cannibalism I became very much immune to it and my character would not get sick from eating human flesh. Before my character would vomit violently and i would often have to lay down due to the immense sickness.
Castles and houses are pretty hard to obtain, specially as a free to play.
Overall I wouldn't really recommend the game, there are far better mmos.
Man, I remember everyone was hyped for this back in the day. Even a decent size thread back in the good ol' MMO section. I'm surprised it's still around tbh.
I'm most likely going to end up trying it since my brother downloaded it earlier. Right off the bat I'm not terribly crazy with how what they claim as "free to play" is technically "infinite free trial". The fact that "free" players are kind of gimped in skills(can supposed go to 100, but no benefit past 60), cannot loot killed players and cannot build housing are double edged as while it most likely makes for a more unpleasant experience it also cuts down on abusing free accounts for mass crafting, land reserving and I guess looting killed people.
I've been playing mortal online for the last few months and it has improved alot since it released, Although there has been some downgrades which they are working towards bringing back, Game still requires alot of work and they are now working on the magic patch which should bring in alot of content.
Nice to finally have the game on steam aswell which has brought many of my friends to try it.
I recommend spawning in Tindrem and later exploring the sewers killing scoundrels and ratman, I only just noticed there was sewers after all these years and it's hella fun.
What's the F2P restriction like?
What's the F2P restriction like?
"Restrictions to free-account players include a limitation of 60 (of 100) in all skills, restricted looting and trading of rare objects, and the inability to make use of thieving skills."
I wonder if the fact that it has a 60% positive on Steam is due to actual criticism or merely people being bitchy about how subscribing is practically required. I have yet to even try the game myself as, as an anti bot measure I take it, only a single free account can be activated per day and I'm still waiting as my brother made one first.
