Hacktivist group Anonymous has issued a warning to the New York Police Department (NYPD) in a YouTube video following allegations of police brutality against those who are taking part in the #OccupyWallStreet protests.
The Anonymous representative who posted the video warns the NYPD to let people protest without shame or threat, let them protest with expressions and freedom. The police department is urged to learn from history and take lessons from what happened to the police force in Egypt following the uprisings in the country earlier this year. The NYPD is warned that, if Anonymous hears about any brutality caused by the NYPD within 36 hours, “then we will take you down from the Internet as you have taken the protesters’ voices from the airwaves.”
In the description below the video, Anonymous — which revealed details of the Anon Plus social network in July and released a tool to hijack Twitter trending topics earlier this month — says, “NYPD, You have been warned. … Your brutality against the protesters will not be forgotten…or forgiven.”
I don't follow Anonymous, but it was on youtube in the side bar so I watched it. I haven't followed much of the protesting either due to lack of TV but I just see headlines. I'll let your ratings/comments do the talking. I personally just enjoy Anonymous shenanigans and pretend they're a country/state/whatever fits starting shit with everyone.. like back with Sony. You really could script a war with some of these things.
I'd be laughing my ass off if I was the one to receive this at the PD.
Oh, so they are NOW calling them a Hacktivist group. Interesting.
Oh no, fear the dangerous DDOS attacks and SQL Injections!
I exited video at "Hello, citizens of the worl...". If they want to make a difference maybe they should actually do something instead of stiring up edrama.
Well at least it's not lulzsec.
I'm going to guess they're targeting Officer Bologna for their excessive internet order-based attacks. What a joke.
There is no leadership and no ultimate goal or direction for this "protest." If they want to accomplish something they need to stop treating this like a habbo hotel raid and actually do work in the correct channels. All of this "declaring war" bullshit is just going to discredit them further; or was this all just a big successful troll by *chan's elite?

They're both just as bad.

You're aware that the "Occupy" protests are not just a bunch of guys from Anonymous making noise, right?
I swear anonymous are the laughing stock of the internet
Disregard human rights, acquire threats from Anonymous
Anon threats with sql injection?!
oh god we are gonna get poor we are gonna get poor, no more websites for us in some days!
Oh shit, Anon declares war! Shit got serious!
Oh no they're going to take down the NYPD website what will they ever do without a simple website being up this is the end of the world I'm so scared!!
That is the most optimistic thing I've seen in a long time.
bah
I don't understand why it's taking people so long to realize.
Stephen Hawking is Anonymous.
Anonymous is not a group, it's just Stephen Hawking.

They released classified police documents once, maybe they'll end up doing something like that again for the NYPD
Well I guess it would be wrong to say that with this kind of threat they're only embarrassing themselves - because that would imply that a more serious threat would be the way to go. But I don't know who thought it was a good idea to make a threat like this in the first place while fully knowing all they can do is take out a couple of websites for a while.
Tho maybe they're "lucky" and the police is even more stupid and has sensitive files stored on servers connected to the world wide web instead of a smaller internal net.

That's what crossed my mind.
I must admit, this would make a good movie.

This just in, the terrorist hacking group known as Anonymous appears to have blown up police departments in New York and Washington. The casualties are thought to be in the tens!
In the current state we are in, it could snowball into something big.
Quit your laughing, nerds.
