Hello there!
My fiancee wants a new gaming rig, the PC she has currently is a prebuilt nightmare we picked up after her old one died.
We have £300 budget, but can go slightly over. Using parts only from www.scan.co.uk can you help us put together a something that isn't a shed with a crank motor in it? We currently have graphics cards coming out of the wazoo, so it would be nice to have a motherboard that would support nVidia SLi.
Games that she plays include but aren't limited to:
WoW,
Book worm,
Portal,
Minecraft,
Half-Life 2,
Psychonauts.
Her native resolution is to be peaceful and help more people (or 1366 x 768).
There is nothing we could really use from the old machine.
Thanks in advance!

You aren't going to get very far with £300 although I'll have a try. You say you have lots of graphics cards, but then you say you can't re-use anything. So can you or can't you?
I have two nVidia 6600gt spare and one nVidia 9500gt in a box.
My PC cost £400 to make a year ago and it's still pretty decent now.
She'll only need something like a 500gb hard drive, 2gig of RAM jobby, I just don't know which one is best.
Other than that she needs the rest of the PC, including a case.
The 6600 is PCI-E, which I don't think is forward compatible with PCI-E 2.0 slots so you'll have to use the 9500. I've used all of your budget although you'd probably be fine if you went down to 2GB of RAM and an X2 http://www.scan.co.uk/savedbasket/dd93e9f883fe4a288dc99d516b820678
