• Building A New Gaming Rig For My Partner
    4 replies, posted
Just recently, a friend of mine wanted me to help him build a good gaming rig (something that could run BC2 or Metro 2033 at max settings). He already has a 24" monitor, speakers, mouse and keyboard. So no need for that. The main thing now is the Rig but before that maybe it's better if I came to ask you guys for some opinion first before getting the parts. Budget: $1500 AUS Dollar(he lent it to me to help him buy it.) This are the specs I came out with: EVGA P55 FTW SLI Motherboard - Intel P55, Socket LGA1156, SLI+PhysX, Crossfire [$179.99] Coolmax VL-600B Power Supply - 600-Watt, 140mm Blue LED Fan, PCIe [$39.99] Intel Core i5 750 BX80605I5750 Processor - 2.66GHz, LGA 1156, 8MB L3 Cache, Quad-Core [$199.99] Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit [$119.99] Corsair Dominator GT 4096MB PC12800 DDR3 RAM - 1600MHz, Dual-Channel, (2x2048MB) [$224.99] Seagate ST31000340NS Barracuda ES.2 Hard Drive - 3.5", 7200 RPM, SATA 3G, 1TB, 32MB SATA Cache, 16MB SAS Cache, OEM [$149.99] About the GPU, I found that this both cards happen to be the same price but which is better? [$529.99] http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6075462&CatId=3669 or http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=6051051&sku=G458-0480&srkey=480%20GTX Total cost: $1444.93 (it's better if anyone can help me reduce the price. More is better:)
You can get the eyefinity edition if you are having tons of monitors but otherwise just get the regular 5870.
