Activision has announced a new game based on The Walking Dead. Not to be confused with Telltale’s episodic The Walking Dead adventure game, Activision’s version is a first-person action game based on AMC’s The Walking Dead TV show. Developed by Terminal Reality, The Walking Dead will revolve around Daryl Dixon and his brother Merle on a “haunting, unforgiving quest to make their way to the supposed safety of Atlanta.” Players will control Daryl as they attempt to avoid detection from zombies that hunt using sight, sound and smell and will choose between fighting them or using stealth to avoid detection. According to Activision, “No place is truly safe for Daryl as he makes his way through the Georgia countryside in this new, post-apocalyptic world.” Supplies will be scarce and players will need to carefully manage food, ammunition and supplies as they make their way through the game. Daryl will encounter “a slew of other characters” along the way that can help or hurt him. Whether or not these characters accompany Daryl is completely up to the player and “represents just some of the major decisions that will constantly be made while fighting to survive.” The Walking Dead will hit stores in 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Few other details are available, but check out the game’s official site for more info in the future. Until then, keep an eye out for all the latest announcements about The Walking Dead TV show before it returns to AMC for season three later this year.
http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/07/06/activision-reveals-walking-dead-first-person-shooter There's a teaser in the link that tells no one anything other than it's set before Atlanta.
oh boy I can't wait to 360 noscope zombies with a crossbow! ~mlgpr0w33dlordxXX~
I'm fine with it as long as someone makes a mod that makes all the zombies Christopher Walken.

There must be a big red panic light in the activision offices with a big "SOMEONE ELSE IS MAKING MONEY" sign below it. It must be going pretty hard right now.
Terminal Reality made the Ghostbusters game, was that good?
This can't end well
I haven't seen the Walking Dead and didn't know it took place in Atlanta. Neat.

And with the first post we have begun a circlejerk of epic proportions.

Stealth Redneck: The Video Game
This could work, but I get the niggling feeling that it won't.
it wont be done right and it will make the series look bad
This sounds like a mixture between DayZ, The Walking Dead and COD132235325357673543535,5654221. Could work but will probably be just another ripoff to get loads of money.
Other then being an FPS it doesn't sound like a CoD at all.
It's activision, I don't expect much.
I do like that the game focuses on Daryl though, since Daryl is one of my favorite characters.

You better stomp that shit out guys otherwise people might get used to actual quality in your games.
i've really been wanting to see georgia in a video game setting so even though i dont watch the walking dead i'll be interested in seeing the worlds in both games.
This isn't being made by Activision just funded and published. Terminal Reality is making the game which means this could be really great or fail. If they follow what they did with ghostbusters it should be a game that works within the universe .
Activision is falling the fuck apart right now. If you checked how the Activision-Blizzard fusion is doing and how Blizzard is doing and how studios like Radical are being closed, there's a high number of titles that didn't pay off and ate money in the last years. Kinda like Square Enix. Considering that, not really surprised they're now doing something like this. And I really won't be surprised if the game will be a formulaic zombie shooter that'll be forgotten quickly, because that's how suits design games.
That's the best possible player character or so, hope he gets a ton of dialogue and that they don't play the dumb redneck card or something. That and crossbows are just badass. Actually interested in this.
All I hope is that Activision won't rush the developers.
Wait, Daryl and Merle? The two incredibly racist redneck assholes that pretty much only existed for the audience to hate? Sounds about right for the Call of Duty crowd, actually. Also as an Atlanta resident I personally cannot wait to see how they manage to fuck up what the city actually looks like.
Terminal Reality made the Ghostbusters game, was that good?
ehh it was... ok nothing special but its not terrible either. [editline]6th July 2012[/editline] and honestly games have showed us that things based on tv shows/movies rarely translate well into videogames so im not really hyped.
IS Telltales game that succesful?
IS Telltales game that succesful?
It's probably their most successful game ever.
Wait, Daryl and Merle? The two incredibly racist redneck assholes that pretty much only existed for the audience to hate?
Daryl is actually likeable (And as far as I know isn't racist, in fact [sp]he saved T-Dog's life[/sp]), Merle is a sack of shit.
IS Telltales game that succesful?
It's pretty fucking good. I was skeptical at first because it was mainly quick time events for the action scenes but the story, NPC interaction and decision making more than make up for it.
