Welcome to the US Virgin Islands. For those who are Americans and want to have a Caribbean vacation without needing a passport this is the place to go. Now I have been here for about half a month. Reason why I can't is because I was trying to find some place a little bit sunnier then my Rust Belt hometown. So I will be writing this guide to share what I have learned and what places are worth going to and not worth going to. Now the first thing is you going to need to find a place that's affordable. If you are single and alone the best place to go would be tillet Garden. Tillet Garden is a hostel. For $50 a night you will have a place to stay next to the tutu Mall. Across the street is a laundromat a casino and store where you can buy anything you need. There is internet both Wireless and a commonly used computer. You will meet the most interesting people here from the most adventurous to the most sketchy. The conversation alone are worth the price. In this compound you will see a bar live music every night there is a live Theater, two restaurants a bakery in almost anything else you might need here. Please realize vacancy is rare for this hostel. If you are feeling a bit more adventurous and you don't care for the ghetto feeling I suggest Midtown guest house. The architecture of this place is very old style open-air is Courtyard very nice. It is located in a questionable neighborhood but it has a very nice Tea House next door. Is located to all the shopping Down town is located near the bus stop. The problem is this place is the cheapest you can get for a single room. It's going to run about 70 dollars to hundred dollars a night. The room I was in had a shower that barely worked no phone and just a bed. Now this goes into the first thing you need to know about the Virgin Islands. Cost of living here is not cheap. You will find your money disappearing quicker than you can say oh f***. While there are many places that take credit or debit card you are going to find that many places do not. You need money for taxis you need money for the bus and sometimes you need money for food. So if you visit here or trying to move here keep this in mind. Good news is there are many things you can do for free on the Islands. There are many beaches you can visit and have a good time if that's all you do here on your vacation. The locals are friendly and easy to interact with. I went to Brewers Beach and a group of 5 people start talking to me gave me beer and just hung out. Where I'm from this does not happen. People are closed off and distant. Now a little bit about the islands about themselves. On the US Virgin Islands there are three islands. Saint Thomas St Croix and st. John. Saint Thomas is the city island. It is what most people do and it's close by to the other Islands st. John. St John is a natural park. It is a tropical Wildwood Preserve so it's mostly Forest. St John's where you want to do hiking camping and want some more secluded beaches. On average to stay on st. Johns is $120 for a cabin. If you come to st. John's during a slow part of the year and if you bring your own camping gear you can camp out for $45 a night. Whatever you want to do realize if you are going to visit st. John's you need to plan ahead of time. You have to be here early in the morning to enjoy st. John. If you come to st. John in the afternoon realize that after Dark the buses stop running. If you are by yourself realize no taxis going to come for you because it's just not worth it for them. So realize it will be an all day trip if you come to this particular Island. Now the place you're going to most likely visit and stay is Saint Thomas. St Thomas is the most developed of the Virgin Islands. It is City Island. There's plenty to do here and if it can't be found here it can't be found anywhere else in the world. There are strip clubs , churches , historic tours, Eco tours restaurants a whole lot of things. This concludes my basic intro to the US Virgin Islands. Feel free to ask me anything. [editline]24th December 2016[/editline] The reason why I'm writing this thread ask people how to improve my writing and communication skills. So I started this thread on something that I know something about and hopefully people can tell me how to improve. Also in another thread someone said they never heard of this place so I thought I would give it a little bit more exposure. Thanks ahead of time
I want to post something useful and I realise my writing needs improving. I will write more later. Comments and suggestions welcome (even joke ones)
Hitchhiking in st. Thomas US Virgin Islands. There are about a couple ways to get around in the Virgin Islands. What is the best known as the Safari otherwise known as a bus. Per person these are about 2 to $1 concerning fare it will get you anywhere you need to go on st.thomas. these Safaris run a circuit on the island. You get off as close as you can to your desired stop. The other way is Taxi. In various visitors guide there will be a listed price from point to point. Cost more but they are regulated and are available for far longer during the day than The Safaris. The Safaris quit working after Dark. Which is a b**** because it gets dark here during winter quickly. Nailed the Third Way is hitchhiking my recommendation is don't hitchhike here. It is true the locals here are nice and friendly and are helpful most of my experiences hitchhiking was someone trying to make a quick buck. They will charge 3 or twice the amount the actual Taxi will charge. So if you are going to go anywhere and sit on this or any of the other Virgin Islands recommendations and I am sure you got cash on hand calculate what I need to get to point to point and make sure you're out during the day and don't start your day during the afternoon or you will be stuck out in the middle nowhere during the dark. You will have be left with only option you have which is to walk in the dark on many mountainous roads that have very little shoulder no sidewalks and traffic that won't stop because they're either coming down the hill or trying they're back to go up 1 and they ain't going to slow down for you. Also if you're here you might notice that some of the white folks are having their steering wheel in one hand in a margarita in the other. Not the type of person you would want barreling at you during night time when you're trying to get home because your dumb ass it was more important to pay for a stripper then conserve what money you have left so you can get a taxi home
How are the women thelurker1234 hitting it with the hard-hitting questions [sp]and the men?[/sp]
[QUOTE=thelurker1234;51585542]How are the women thelurker1234 hitting it with the hard-hitting questions [sp]and the men?[/sp][/QUOTE] Do you honestly think a basement dweller who just crawled out of his mother's attic who's Pasty awkward and got a beer gut going to know anything about that? Do realize many women here are tourists looking for a good time. Should be easier to find a hook up provided you are somewhat charming and decent looking. If you are not these things, the informal atmosphere and very open social culture should help any shut in become more relaxed and skilled with dealing with people. Both for sexual relationships or other wise. The amount of physical activity available for lesurie or walking around will improve the physique. If you want to getwith some locals you will find a lot of pretty people who are easy going, very outgoing and friendly. There are plenty of diverse people from many cultures. Mostly locals are either Hispanic or black. White people are the minority here unless you're somewhere Rich and swanky. Population has a long history of being mix of Dutch English Spanish French Hindi Africa the shows in the local dialect. As for the lpq T community I do not know much on how it is perceived here. As I said before I couldn't get any if my life depended on it as a heterosexual and I'm not sure if I could do it any other way. I will say I have met some gay dudes here and claim they don't have a very big issue them being them here. If you want to increase your chances before coming here i suggest you learn how to dance.. also work on your Spanish there are many places or if you know how to dance and speak Spanish increase your chances of getting a girlfriend boyfriend or whatever the hell you want. How about strip clubs? I did go to one and it's gone by the name Tootsie's. You know how you go to the strip club and they dance no matter what on that stage we all know so well? It doesn't happen here. Cover charge at 10 and unless you're willing to pay $20 per lap dance, the dancers just sit on the chairs and at the bar while doing nothing. However once you buy lap dance they will get very touchy-feely. One put her hands up my shorts and felt my cock. Then proceeded to offer me for a higher price for a very private dance in my hotel room. She did this while we sat next to the bar in front of everyone else. Please be advised that prostitution is highly illegal here and the brochure so they cracked down on it intensely. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Did I participate? No I didn't. I don't advise anyone try to either. It's very seedy and shadey you tried to and it's just not worth it. [editline]26th December 2016[/editline] Do realize these islands are party central. Hedonism can easily become a way of life here. If you want it and know the right people you can get it. Many tourists come to party and some end up moving here to keep partying. Who ever named Las Vegas sin city has not been to St Thomas.
