"A business has also sought for links to negative reviews on a forum to be removed."
How is this legal, gj EU.
You know this is fucked up because it would be illegal to ask to the sites themselves containing the information to remove the content.
If you didn't want people knowing you shouldn't have done it in the first place
this is why we can't have nice things
yey internet censorship, because its OK when it involves regular people not corporations
Can we stop jumping on the bandwagon here, it states that they have received the requests, not taken action on them.
I don't know the exact wording of the law, but this is from the original article:
Google has received fresh takedown requests after a European court ruled that an individual could force it to remove "irrelevant and outdated" search results
All the examples listed in the BBC article (all of which are negative, wtf BBC you're supposed to be impartial) are not either irrelevant or outdated. They will not be removed.
An example of an irrelevant and outdated result would be a link to a criminal record which has been expunged. I also still firmly believe that any results generated by somebody's actions before the age of 18 (with exception of criminal records etc) should be allowed to be removed.
You have one identity so don't fuck it up, even on the internet...
If you didn't want people knowing you shouldn't have done it in the first place
Isn't that the same as "You should not be concerned(about lack of privacy) if you have nothing to hide"?

You've never made a mistake in your life?

I have... and I own up to them.

And then you wonder why someone snaps and murders someone. You should not have to own up to it for the rest of your life.

What
That's fucking murder dude. You should definitely have to own up to taking someone else's life for the rest of your life. You know, the life that that person will never live now.

Where is this intangible ~bandwagon~ you're bitching about? All the posts before you are primarily against internet censorship and the people asking google for this, no one even mentioned google going through with it.

ummm yeah if someone tried to murder their entire family i'd reeeeally like to know that in advance if i were getting to know them! fuck off its their mistake that they made, and people have every reason to know that they're both capable of something like that and have tried it before
If we're okay with ruining peoples' lives, why even release them from prison then? It's not like they can get a job or lead a normal life any more.

Also if you're doing background checks, it should not be done through google anyway.
Imagine Anonymous arming themselves with pitchforks over this.

I haven't actually seen those guys in a while.

It's not required to be removed, that's why it has sought so but the article doesn't actually mention it being removed.
"The right to be forgotten" only exists for individuals, not corporations, and also not if there's significant public interest.

The people who do the most damage are quite good at burying old damage. It's part of why people are a fraud of outsiders and those without any current friends.
