An Egyptian judo player declined to shake hands with his Israeli opponent after their match on Friday, eliciting jeers from the audience.
Or Sasson of Israel defeated Islam El Shehaby of Egypt in a first-round match in the heaviest weight class.
After a moment of prayer, El Shehaby got up and seemed reluctant to perform the traditional bow to his opponent. Eventually, he gave a quick nod and left the mat. A judge and referee urged him to return.
Sasson then approached El Shehaby with his hand extended, but El Shehany backed away. After a moment, Sasson gave up.
Throughout the competition, as at all judo matches, competitors have bowed to each other, often multiple times. To decline a handshake is extraordinarily unusual and a serious breech of judo etiquette.
Bloody stupid. Is it really so hard to shake someone's hand?

How did it become not available so quick?
Because it was an ~oppressed~ islamic egyptian not respecting the jewish israeli ~oppressor~
If it was the other way around the media would be on top of this within seconds.
It's available you just have to go to the page itself to watch it.
What is wrong with you.
I went on the Youtube page and it says it's unavailable for me, and OP's source has no video that I can see.
It's a Twitter video and the one posted above works fine for me as long as I watch it on Youtube.
I was more wondering why you wrote a story about oppression and media coverups.
-snip-
Probably region-locked for non-'muricans then.

Oh, am I actually supposed to explain the whole "oppression" thing?
I mean you don't have to I just thought it was a bizarre tangent :v:

It's fine, he lost in more ways than getting his ass handed to him, that's all.
It's pretty common for the Arab teams to be assholes to the Israelis during the olympics. The IOC doesnt do anything about it because they dont want to offend the Arabs. The IOC even went so far as to not commemorate the Munch massacre for 44 years because of the risk of offending Arabs.
I'm kind of surprised to see this, don't Israel and Egypt currently have decent relations, at least better than every other Middle Eastern country except Jordan?
You'd think an athlete representing their country in a major global sporting event would hold to that even if he personally doesn't agree with it.

"better" doesn't have to mean anything close to decent.
A lot of people in Middle-Eastern countries despise Israelis. Kind of sad to see.
Disrespectful as fuck, where's your sportsmanship? Judo is Judo.
So much for the one event that the world puts aside their differences for. Disgrace to his country and maybe even humanity as a whole.
I guess it is strange if you can't see how the media has lately become pro-islam vs. pro-Israel a few years ago
why can't we be both
This is a very serious offence to the opponent and to the sport. I would disqualify that guy right away, I don't care about their petty political or religious bullshit, it has no place in the Olympics.
I bet you that the Egyptian will later come out and go 'Muh Palestine' even if that Israeli had nothing to do with it other than being part of a conscript army.It isn't surprising to see Arabs,or to a lesser extent, other Muslims being dicks to average Israelis by using the excuse that they are looking out for their Palestinian bretheren for the 'Ummah'. Now its obvious that not all Muslims are like this, you can see the irony when they generalize all Israelis as bloodthirsty mass murderers and then bitch about the west discriminating them.Hyprocrites much?
Arabs can be assholes at times - hypocritical ones at that. Before Israel there wasno interest in a Palestinian nation yet there were proposals to evenly split the borders but they turned it down and attacked. Don't get me wrong, I think Israel's government/policies does some dumb and deplorable shit but the Arab nations are equally bad for dragging on an old grudge for well over fourty years. At least Israeli social standards/culture doesn't include shitty Islamists (though Orthodox Jews are still a menace).
