Apocalypse is actually one of the creepiest games I've played, the mixture of the artstyle and ridiculously creepy music makes the game feel really intense. For some reason I can't play for very long without crashing though.

I remember Apocolapse being really hard to get into since it just threw you in with a really cluttered and hard to understand interface

That's DOSBOX. I dunno if there's a GOG version, but it'd probably be more stable. I've played up to one of the first breeches into the alien dimension and my only advice for it is to just save before and after every mission.

It's not really that hard to get, you just have to look around a bit.
I find the endgame very tedious, never finished it

I bounced off it a couple of times, but once you get into it, the game has a lot to offer
I really hope the cool dudes behind OpenXCOM eventually get around to give Apocalypse the same treatment.

If it has balanced turn-based I'm completely sold. The game was made with real-time in mind and they didn't have time to set up a different system or set of stats for turn-based, so some shit is REALLY broken in turn-based. Like the fucking head humpers.
