Well if the energy economy is flow based like it was in Supreme Commander (I haven't played TA yet so I wouldn't know about that), it actually makes sense to measure the output of your power plants in watts. The stored energy should definitely be measured in joules though.

Also the mention of interplanetary cannons brings up many strategic possibilities. I wonder how they're going to implement rotation of the planets and their orbits around stars (I really hope it's in the game at all). Because you could possibly find a good spot on some planet that would make you face away from your enemies most of the time, effectively avoiding interplanetary bombardment. It would also make the players with such cannons have to time their shots to even hit anything. And since we've seen there will be the option of moving whole asteroids with huge rocket engines, perhaps there will also be a way of controlling a planet's rate of rotation?
I cant wait to convert a moon into a deathstar with the interplanetary cannon and engines...hopefully armored plating to give it the look.
