BBC is not an acronym, it's an initialism
Acronyms are when you say them phonetically, like NATO and NASA and laser
Initialisms are ones you don't say phonetically like BBC and USA and FP

I always say ARM as Ay-Ar-Em
I see it as short for "Acorn RISC Machine", which breaks down again to "Acorn Reduced Instruction Set Computer Machine".
