Two protesters with the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) were arrested and fined Wednesday after disrupting a fisheries meeting in Charlottetown. Three protesters of Canada’s seal hunt travelled to P.E.I. from as far away as New York to demonstrate outside the fall conference of the Fisheries Council of Canada in Charlottetown. The three began their demonstration peacefully — one of them dressed as a seal and, bearing signs, they vocalized their dissent against the controversial seal hunt in Canada. But later the protest turned ugly when two of the demonstrators disrupted a luncheon for the participants at the conference. They stood on a tables and shouted: “Stop the bloody seal hunt,” as participants tried to eat their food. When staff could not stop the protesters, Charlottetown Police were called and the two demonstrators shouting atop tables were arrested. Police dragged them away as they continued to chant their group’s message. They were charged under the Trespass to Property Act and fined $120 each. Emily McCoy, one of those arrested and fined, said she travelled to P.E.I. from New York to oppose what she believes is a cruel killing of seals. “We want to let (federal Fisheries Minister) Gail Shea know that trying to sell the commercial seal slaughter to the Canadian people and the world as basically an Indian tradition is false,” McCoy said. “It’s brutal. The seals are clubbed in the head, spiked in the cheek and dragged across the ice in front of their mothers when they’re three months old. It’s a brutal industry and it has to stop.” Patrick McGuinness, president of the Fisheries Council of Canada, said he doesn’t understand why the demonstrators chose to protest this particular meeting, since this was a convention of professionals within the seafood industry. “I just find their approach of not being concerned about the collateral damage to people who have hard-working jobs in the seafood industry who basically have no connection with the people in sealing — I have a difficult time accepting that,” McGuinness said.
I found this really funny. In a city like 45 minutes from where I live, 2 PETA members get arrested (and fined) for protesting the seal hunt at a fishing conference.
Prepare for incoming PETA group shitstorm. EDIT: I mean again.
I guess they knew something was fishy about the conference.
Did they kind of look like this?
:smug: That is all.
Peta makes me sick, they should all be arrested.

As I have said before, PETA is just a group of wimpy people complaining. they don't research alternatives, or consider the job or economic loss. they just complain.
I live near there headquaters, all a couple hours away...I drive there with a bottle of gas and a lighter.
Not as cool as where I live, schools get shot up and meth labs across the street blow up at the same time, and then Evangelical Pastors shoot up with gay hookers. I love you Colorado :hugs:
Did they kind of look like this?
WOULD YOU LOOK AT THOSE INNOCENT PEOPLE? Look what PETA does to human beings; brainwashing them to the point where they stand outside naked! STOP THE UNETHICAL ABUSE OF HUMANS TO CONVEY POLITICAL MESSAGES! Those people are human beings, God damn it, NOT PETA's personal billboard. Look at the abuse the victims of PETA's vicious human hunt are forced to endure. That poor woman, sucked into PETA's evil arms, reduced to sitting in a locked cage, naked, to convey a meaningless message as harmful chemicals from toxic paint races through her bloodstream. Oh my God, forced to strip down to nothing and endure a grueling pornographic photo shoot! Those ultrabright florescent photographic lighting bulbs' flashes must have blinded her poor abused eyes! The list of victims goes on and on... How many human beings must PETA abuse to broadcast their message? STOP PETA'S UNETHICAL ABUSE OF HUMAN BEINGS! PETA MAKES ME SO MAD I literally shake with rage whenever I hear the word "peta" because I have nothing more important to care about other than some mildly annoying political organization
PETA is so full of shit, but you lot get off lucky. Every fucking day at dinner I have to hear from my sister about how 'unethical' it is to eat something that wouldn't have been born if it weren't intended to be eaten. Most of the time, like in the OP, PETArds go on about shit that isn't even relevant.

I'm a vegetarian and i fucking hate PETA. They protest about stupid shit and force their opinions upon people, i don't give a fuck if anyone else eats meat. They are a reason TO eat meat.

Call me when PETA members get mauled by the animals they're trying to save. I'm in the mood for some delicious irony. However I'm pretty sure this may have already happened.
Public Records: PETA Found Adoptive Homes for Less than 1 out of 300 Animals Animal lovers worldwide now have access to more than a decade’s worth of proof that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) kills thousands of defenseless pets at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. Since 1998, PETA has opted to “put down” 21,339 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens instead of finding homes for them. PETA’s “Animal Record” report for 2008, filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, shows that the animal rights group killed 95 percent of the dogs and cats in its care last year. During all of 2008, PETA found adoptive homes for just seven pets. Just seven animals -- out of the 2,216 it took in. PETA just broke its own record.
Really ironic.
