More than 22,000 people have died in drug-related violence since Mexican President Felipe Calderon declared war on the nation's narcotrafficking cartels in December 2006, a government report said Tuesday. The Mexican government does not routinely release the death toll in the drug war. Recent media reports had given an unofficial tally of 18,000 dead. According to a report made available by Calderon's government to members of the Mexican senate, 22,700 people have died since Calderon took office in December 2006. In addition, the report said, more than 3,000 people were killed this year from January through March. Last year, 9,635 people were killed, the report said. Interior Secretary Fernando Gomez Mont confirmed the figures at a news conference Tuesday.
Source: http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2010/04/14/government-more-than-22000-dead-in-mexico-drug-war/ War on drugs = failure
At least nobody's been putting bad stuff in their bodies :downs:
If you don't count bullets and knives.
If you don't count bullets and knives.
Bullets and knives aren't as bad as weed. Weed is a gateway to terrorism and homicidal rampages with a fire axe. Also your dick will fall off.
and people wonder why people come here illegally from that shit hole
Obviously the war on drugs is working.
Great, this Drug War is killing way more than those who have been killed from cocaine and heroin usage - combined.
well Mexico is checked off my places to visit list.
ugh.
I came in here expect a war over drugs, not against them, curse you assumptions!
It's stopped being war on drugs and become war on cartels.
I came in here expect a war over drugs, not against them, curse you assumptions!
"Fuck you potheads, us cocaine sniffers own your asses!"
That sucks hard. [editline]10:52PM[/editline] My condolences.
Over 9000.
That's alot.
Government: "Their sacrifices were not in vain, they have decreased the trafficking rate by 2%!!!!!" *This isn't based on any facts so don't take it seriously
Why do we seriously need to do this? If people want to do drugs let them to drugs and suffer the consequences that come with it. The people who oppose drugs tend to be conservatives who also complain that they don't want the government to babysit them, so why are they supporting just that when it comes to drug use?
Hey listen up dummies, there's such a thing as a drug victim. People are targeted and coerced into consumption of drugs and fuck themselves up. People are fucking up with drugs and they wouldn't have if things weren't so bad over there. The drug crime world is also a breeding ground for all kinds of illegal activity.
All these cartels do is feed the gang problem already extremely present in the US, not to mention they get away with anything between human trafficking and smuggling. It's not like they're going to war with them just because they want to smoke some weed or something.
Legalizing drugs would be one of the most devastating blows the any government could make to crime.
The cartels do a lot more than selling drugs, there is more to it than that.
The cartels do a lot more than selling drugs, there is more to it than that.
Legalize it and they'll be put out of business. They kill, kidnap, etc. as a result of something related to their drug trafficking such as if someone rips them off.

Oh, Mexico. :rolleye:
121,199 cartel members detained. Not entirely.
What has that accomplished?
What has that accomplished?
stopz evil drugs
That's like the population of my town. What would it be like if everyone in my town just dropped dead from drugs and bullets?
