Daily Mail.
Man I wish I could play with a machinegun in primary school.
Come on, don't lie, gun rights or not, you would have loved to play with a machinegun as a wee lil kid.
Everyone did.
I am absolutely certain.
Don't look at me silly!
Clearly an Airsoft AEG, silly old twat pissing around.
Assault Rifles = Machine guns
That gun has to be stolen, I don't even think they make a civilian G36. Unless it's a SL8-6 or something, which even then I think those run for a few grand.

Things that look like assault rifles=machine guns
Things that look like assault rifles=machine guns
If it goes "ratatatatatat", it's a machine gun.
all guns are machine guns
'All the parents around here are scared. None of us want to let our children out.
'The police arrested a man but then let him out. We don't really know what is going on.'
Airsoft guns are just too scary for us!!!
Airsoft guns are just too scary for us!!!
Not everyone can spot an airsoft gun at first glance.
Like seriously, what the fuck, it's a legitimate concern for a lot of folk and they might be unaware of the fact that it was an airsoft gun.
"Lol is onle arsoft gn y u so scred?"
Airsoft guns are just too scary for us!!!
They are if you have little kids, this is an infant school, so it's kids of 4-8 years old

In all likelihood it was an airsoft gun

They don't, not even in the US. There are a few companies converting SL8s though but they are very costly
Airsoft guns are just too scary for us!!!
lol yea guys, he was just waving a realistic looking airsoft gun around of a bunch of little kids. What a bunch of pussys

It's best to assume it's a real gun when somebody starts waving it around kids, but this article is clearly blowing it out of proportion. In retrospect it's pretty clearly not a "machine gun".

Sure is easy to spot the difference between the real gun and the airsoft

Especially because there's no orange tip on it
Nevermind this post, it's being taken too literally - just glad that no one was injured in the end.
Most airsoft guns don't have working/moving bolts, and the first picture you linked has the bolt pulled back.

Secondly, I thought firearms in the UK were banned, so who's really going to get their hands on a G36 with a transparent magazine?
They're restricted, you can't get handguns, shotguns are fine and I'm not sure about rifles.
Even if it's airsoft, having it into a primary school is definitely not a good idea. Shit's still painful, yo.

I don't know about your airsoft M4's, but the bolt is where my hopup dial is. And if you see some man who seems to be concealing his face (can't tell in the pic) walking around with a very realistic looking machine gun and you don't know anything about airsoft, you're probably gonna freak the fuck out

First, are someone really going to stare at the bolt? "yeah sure, i can see that the bolt isnt real from here, it's okay"
Secondly, arms smugglers can get most kinds of weapons into a country.
This is like one of those UFO or Bigfoot pics

Drugs are banned too but they still exist

Of all the firearms in the world you could try to smuggle into the UK, why the fuck would a G36 be one of them?

Fair enough, point taken.
On the bright side, no one was hurt. While airsoft isn't lethal it does sting at close range and you risk losing eyes without eye pro.
To be fair at a distance it could be anything, particularly round a school
They're restricted, you can't get handguns, shotguns are fine and I'm not sure about rifles.
Rifles are allowed, just not fully automatic, and "assault" weapons that i've seen are only in .22, but i'm sure you can get higher calibre, but they're not really in demand and therefore hard to find
My bushmaster and browning are .22lr
Also not to mention there's a black market with p much everything
You people sound like you expect everyone to be some kind of firearms expert
Of all the firearms in the world you could try to smuggle into the UK, why the fuck would a G36 be one of them?
Does that really matter? It looks very much alike to a real gun, and it should be treated as a real gun until confirmed it's a replica/airsoft. Just because it's unlikely that he could have aquired that gun in particular, it still looks very close to a deadly assault rifle.

Sorry if I came across like that, just wanted to point out that he chose some poor comparison images.

Yes I expect primary school teachers and children to know this.
