• Laptop for my parents! -UK-

Hey all, About 5 years ago I bought a toshiba a100 satellite pro, at that time it was epic (insert humorous laugh at how shit it is now), just a year ago I decided to buy myself a desktop for gaming and buy a toshiba netbook/notebook for college. So I gave my old laptop to my parents. Now it is in a 'god-forsaken put me out of my misery state', so much so you can use the CPU as a cooker and now they want a new laptop. So I've been looking around and call me a fan boy of toshiba but I've been looking at those. Mainly IMO they're reliable. All my parents really want to do is standard internet/office use. So I'm guessing an i5 would be heavily underused? The main criteria that it has to be portable, long battery life (Solid 5hr+) have a good longevity to it and not burn your legs! Price range £300-£700. Also the monitor has to be big, so notebooks with (atom processors) are out of the question. I've had a look at the lenovo thinkpad: and it's only £100 more for the i5, than the i3. Thank you!
If it's for your parents I assume they don't do a lot of processor heavy thing, so I doubt an i5 is necessary.
yeah, very true, my dad was happy with an i3 after I explained it to him. Just need help from you guys as to the best make/model which fits the criteria. Thanks.
I got my parents a celeron D and they barely utilize that, I guess farmville just isn't hardware intensive.
Done a bit more lurking. What do you think? The Thinkpads have great keyboards and usually good battery life, I would go for the E520 that you found.
The Ibm thinkpads are much better, but overall Lenovo thinkpads are right under the Ibm ones.
