Ok i can run most games quite smoothly apart from dragon age. Which is weird.
Anyway my graphics card is a 8800 GT, My CPU is 3.20 GHZ single, And 2 GB of ram
Now im guessing my CPU might be the bottle neck, So im replacing it today with a dual core duo 6700
Dragon age just lags in towns and big battles, The frame rate can drop too 15 or 20 sometimes which is really bad. So yeah if anyone could tell me if this new CPU will make a difference then tell me
What exactly is your CPU? It would be nice if you could give the model, just a clock speed doesn't say much.
Hmm is there anyway i could find out without having too pull my computer apart?
Probably the easiest way to check.

Download, install and it shows all your system specs.
Intel Pentium D 940
Just how expensive is the Core Duo 6700? Because I think a Q9550 is more powerful and worth a lot less. Also, it uses the same slot.

I cant be bothered to go into details but lets just say this is the only option i have.
We need you to go into detail if you want a good solution.

Why would you get another program to tell you your specs, when you can already just go and see them..
In brief.. The core duo 6700 is the only choice i have cause im broke and my dads letting me have it when he upgrades to quad. All i need to know is will it be noticely better

Because it allows you to see your system specs more in depth, Windows doesn't always tell you exactly what you're using.

Can you post the rest of your specs? Upgrading something like the CPU isn't all about just the CPU.
Well give me a list of the things you will need to know, And ill sort them out
By the way this is like my first time giving out specs so bare with me
Using CPU-Z, find out your CPU, Motherboard, Memory and Graphics Card details. We also need the details on your Power Supply, and if you don't know that, you'll need to look inside the case.
Per chance, is it a Dell or a pre-built computer?
Motherboard: NF650ISLIT-A
Cpu: Intel Pentium D 940 3.20 GHZ
Memory: DDR2 2048 MBytes
Graphics card: Nvidia geforce 8800 GT 512 MB
And my power supply is something like 700 Wats
You should be fine with the upgrade.

doesn't show mobo, gpu.
Of a terrible :happyelf: quality.

"Anyway my graphics card is a 8800 GT," and motherboard is, for the most part, irrelevant.

How else can you decide on the best upgrade if you don't know the mainboard? That's the first thing I'd want to know if someone asked me the same question.

Yeah, he could have had an AM2 socket CPU for all we knew.
It's an LGA775, but the chipset probably doesn't support the Core2 CPUs. So CPU and Mainboard are all you're going to really need to upgrade. GPU is getting close, but it will last you another generation or two.
lok for a E5300 or the like
