More than 2,000 people will attend the £8million service, including The Queen and all surviving ex-prime ministers and US presidents, which is also a factor in the heightened security.
Other notable attendees will include Sir Terry Wogan, Joan Collins and Jeremy Clarkson.
because Jeremy Clarkson is there duh
i understand having a heightened Police presence... but really the army? why?
If the news has showed me anything, Englanders know how to make a good fucking riot
What an absolute shame that there's a risk of violence at a funeral. Think of her family, having to deal with the police being there and trying to drown out the inevitable bunch of morons calling their mother a witch.

The Army heard this guy was coming, they had to be prepared.

I dunno, she's still having a £10m funeral with the most important and famous people in the world attending
because Jeremy Clarkson is there duh
Well Clarkson is Britains most important celebrity

Oh yes, poor them attending a £10M funeral. Oh how poor won't somebody think of the children.

I think you're mixing up England with Canada.

Of course the cost of the funeral completely negates the shouting and booing, how silly of me not to notice. If only my own mother could have had £10 million to spend on her funeral I'd be perfectly happy to have a chorus of abuse in the pews and having a police escort on the way to the cemetery.
so: why is she essentially getting a state funeral?
The official line from Buckingham Palace and Downing Street is that Margaret Thatcher is not being granted a state funeral. And it is true that the Baroness will not lie in state at Westminster Hall, as Sir Winston Churchill did almost 50 years ago.
In almost every other respect, however, this is the real thing. Next Wednesday, her body will be taken by gun carriage from St Clement Danes in the Strand, down Fleet Street and into St Paul’s Cathedral.
There will be a gun salute at the Tower of London. And the cost of the event will be borne in large part by the taxpayer. Most important of all, the Queen is to attend.
If something looks, smells and tastes like a state funeral, then it is reasonable to conclude that it is one. The truth is that Lady Thatcher is getting very similar treatment to Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997 or the Queen Mother in 2002.
Probably because she was the first female prime minister.
i understand having a heightened Police presence... but really the army? why?
I dunno its not like any terrorist organisation actively targeted her, including trying to blow her up and only just missing? I cannot think of a single person or organisation who would want to seriously disrupt her funeral...

You are dumb, its nothing to do with the cost. There's a good number of former world leaders and the like, they need protection.
Well Clarkson is Britains most important celebrity
Second most important.
Jimmy Carr is the most important.

Shame it didn't stop him from evading taxes.
So are we not getting a bank holiday because it's "not" a state funeral?
Shame it didn't stop him from evading taxes.
Celebrity, not tax-payer.
He or she has another name.
That's a funny way to spell Stephen Fry
If there is a horn to summon him, then he is above Jimmy Carr.

Minor little thing, he avoided paying taxes he didn't partake in tax evasion. Everything he did was nice and legal.
If there was a proper riot over this, the irony would be that it would cost more in damages than the £8 million spent on the funeral itself
Why has FP been accepting and trusting dozens of Daily Mail articles lately?
