• What is the most customizable racing game for PC/Xbox360?

Im looking for a racing game that has high customization. I played the demo for NfS: Carbon but only the body was customizable. Are there any racing game that allows me to customize the engine parts, suspension etc? Preferably for the xbox because I just want to rent. Any ideas? Thanks.
hey I played the demo that means I got the full product hint: you can customise performance on cars in NFS: Carbon
You can customize the engine aswell? Usually a demo shows off most of the features. Seeing as customizing the engine would be a pretty big part, you'd think it would be in there.
It's very limited. There are basically three parts, that you can tune for either acceleration, balanced or top speed. I don't think it's as technical as you're after. There are basically 27 'options' that you can 'tune' your engine too. You can have it varying from fully specced to acceleration, or fully specced for a higher top speed or 25 stages inbetween. Also you can't really fuck your car up in Carbon, so it's good if you're just wanting to do the basics. Need for Speed Undercover uses percentages, so you can customise your engine's Speed/Acceleration to the percent. The only thing I ever really changed in this game was my Nitrous, and setting it to maximum velocity but less duration. I left the others to their defaults because I didn't see the need to change anything. I might have tuned one car a little bit, but the effect was minimal. Forza 2 has a large amount of customization, but I could never get any actual improvements. I tried about 20 different gear ratios and each one made my car worse. You can also entirely swap your parts, and even the whole engine block of the car (I had my Vauxhall Astra in Rear Wheel Drive on Forza 2). I found that for gear ratio tuning, the defaults were the best, and even tiny changes (1 point to the right for everything) would reduce my car's performance. I guess there WILL be a way to improve performance, but I wasn't bothered enough to actually do it. I'd suggest trying NFS Undercover for the customization, and to be honest the racing is good fun too. It's just the story that's shitty. Forza 2 is REALLY customizable, but I found that the defaults were better. I've not tried Forza 3, so I can't judge that one.
Thanks for the input man.

Unfortunately, i never see him anymore, but some of his tunings were great. So it is possible, with patience.
Well, GT4 is like that but no body customization and its not for xbox. soooo. yea.. I could give you my old ps2 if you want lol. [editline]7th November 2010[/editline] OH! ps2 emulators for gt4
Forza 3 is probably the best option Other offerings for PC: Live For Speed with LFSTweak and mods Street Legal Racing: Redline (Driving mechanics worse than Big Rigs but modifying cars is just too fucking fun to give a shit) and mods Need for speed: Prostreet, Shift, and Underground have performance upgrades LFS is probably the most realistic but least moddable in terms of parts but your car's speed and handling will vary VERY largely depending on your setup and online is fun Prostreet and shift both present fun compromises between realistic and moddable SLR:R is a really bad game but building cars is fun for a few hours with the unofficial patch with all the cars and engines installed and it's only like 300mb
Halo. For real though, there are some pretty crazy customs maps, halo 3 I think has better ones but that's just because it's had more time.
Halo's racing maps are pretty cool tbh. Otherwise Forza
Railworks, if you get all of the DLC.
forza 3
