“I’m just a citizen trying to help an officer out. That’s what I was tryin’ to do.” That’s what Vic Stacy had to say while deflecting attempts to call him a hero. Stacy came to the aid of Sgt. Steven Means of the Early, TX PD who came under fire from Charles Conner. According to ktxs.com, Conner had already murdered two neighbors and their dogs before opening fire on the officer as he arrived on the scene. When Stacy saw Sgt. Means couldn’t get a good shot at Conner, he feared the cop would be the third (well, fifth) victim of the afternoon. So Stacy opened up with his own gun, hitting him in the thigh and knocking him down. Conner’s now in a morgue somewhere after Means and Stacy ventilated him sufficiently to end the threat.
http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2012/08/daniel-zimmerman/defensive-gun-use-of-the-day-just-lending-a-hand-edition/ http://www.ktxs.com/news/Three-people-killed-in-shooting-at-Early-RV-Park/-/14769632/15822008/-/gkxvrvz/-/index.html
he feared the cop would be the third (well, fifth) victim of the afternoon
Yeah that's totally appropriate
Conner’s now in a morgue somewhere after Means and Stacy ventilated him sufficiently to end the threat.
Best line of the article
Texas.
Almost a 200 yard shot with what I assume was a carry handgun? Thats impressive as hell :v:
What are you on about, guns are only used for mass murder!
3...2...1... "stop praising the death of someone you monsters"
Yeah that's totally appropriate
What's wrong with that? The two dogs died.
Gotta hand it to him Under those circumstances I couldn't have done what he did No way in hell Can't imagine what skill it took Or maybe it was luck No matter, it's amazing either way Terrible that two people were murdered beforehand though Regardless, this man is a hero Of course, there is only one thing left to do now Look at the first letter of each line and realise that this thread was fucked from the start
What's wrong with that? The two dogs died.
You don't count animals in a death count when people are present, its disrespectful. I won't even get into an argument about this, because idiots will remain idiots no matter what they are told.
You don't count animals in a death count when people are present, its disrespectful. I won't even get into an argument about this, because idiots will remain idiots no matter what they are told.
I think they should be counted for the sheer fact that, at least what I interpret from the article, they were intentionally killed and so part of this madman's guncraze. If he also set fire to the house, you wouldn't keep that out of the article because it's "lesser" than two people killed, you keep it in to explain the full range of the guy's damages.
I think they should be counted for the sheer fact that, at least what I interpret from the article, they were intentionally killed and so part of this madman's guncraze.
Yeah they can be mentioned, but thrown into the numbers of human victims? No...that's not right. "he feared the cop would be his third victim" doesn't even make sense to throw in the dog's casualities. Happy there was no misunderstanding.
The dogs were killed by him, therefore they are victims. How is this hard to comprehend
Not hard to comprehend, hard to justify why one would put human death and animal death on the same level.

[editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] Yeah but you don't count the house as a victim :(
how come you're so arrogant on every subject you try to discuss on, all I can figure is that you're trolling. Dogs are breathing feeling thinking things, they're alive. A house is not. A house is an inanimate object. It is dead by default. He killed two dogs, took two lives. They are now corpses. They are a victim to his crimes.

[editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] Yeah but you don't count the house as a victim :(
I suppose. But they were living creatures "murdered" by him, so in a sense they're still victims. And I'm sure there's quite a few dog lovers out there who would count the dogs as victims.
VATS.

Arrogance because I back up my beliefs, argue them, and believe them to be true? Don't lie to yourself thinking that just because someone has opinions that you disagree with that they're simply "arrogant".
I can't wait for the usual gun critics to not post in this thread at all
Okay fine about the dog shit, I don't really care either way, they're just dogs. I'm done arguing.
The thing that surprised me the most was the cop didn't immediately think he was a second gunman and start to fire on him. Happy there was no misunderstanding.

He hollered at me and said "put the gun down and get on the ground" and I did
It was only the truthaboutguns blog post which counted them as victims, the actual news release on it didn't count them. http://www.ktxs.com/news/Three-people-killed-in-shooting-at-Early-RV-Park/-/14769632/15822008/-/gkxvrvz/-/index.html http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2012/08/daniel-zimmerman/defensive-gun-use-of-the-day-just-lending-a-hand-edition/ The blog also seems like it might be a slightly biased source.
Not hard to comprehend, hard to justify why one would put human death and animal death on the same level.
Some people value life equally? Don't get me wrong, I eat meat, etc, but I still value an animal life at more or less the same level as a human life.

Radio dude said that the house was rushed the Home Depot ICU and will be back on its foundations in no time.
I heard the dog house didn't make it, so sad :(
My condolences to the carpenter. :(
What's wrong with that? The two dogs died.
They could've simply wrote "fifth" instead of the casual "third (well, fifth)". Two people and two dogs were murdered and the author is writing with such a careless attitude that almost hints at attempted humour.
