Hey, so recently my F-Secure installiation has started complaining me about the subscription ending.. And I'm looking for a free alternative.
Would Comodo Internet Security be any good, or should I go to something like MSE?
For the love of god don't use Comodo, it'll block EVERY program that tries to access the internet and if you use steam (which I assume you do seeing as you're here in the first place) you'll have a never ending stream of isses with comodo.
Fuck. I hate that program.
The best security is your own common scene, otherwise MSE since it doesn't be a big piece of shit 90% of the time.

Nope.

And nope.
Common sense will not help you survive malicious JS exploits found all over the internet. Common sense won't tell you you have a virus until it is too late. MSE is decent, but Comodo is better, much better. It has detected things MSE missed every single time.
Comodo has recently been made a fair bit more user friendly. It won't "block" your programs from running, it will ask you if you want to let the program access the wider Internet, and if you want to Sandbox it (both of which can be disabled). You could just stick it on training mode where it will only ask you about a unknown publisher/ executable, and will learn what you use commonly to stop it bugging you as much.
If you don't want that much protection Avast! is probably the best choice, but MSE does integrate with the OS a hell of a lot better than most AVs. Comodo is a full on HIPS, so you get AV, Sandboxing, Firewalls and their Defense+ thing (the bit that asks you what to do).
Comodo is awesome.
I use Comodo firewall but not that anti virus. Comodo is great for blocking malicious internet connections. I set it to training mode for like 3 months. After it learned my daily routines it never asked me for the common stuff again.
I use Comodo firewall in combination with MalwareBytes antivirus, they're great.
I use Comodo AV+Firewall and MBAM, supplemented by ABP+Noscript and common sense.
Never, I mean NEVER, had a problem.

Probably just jinxed it, you watch.
