• Need help wiping old computer clean.

Hello, So I recently came into possession of an old PC, and I'm having a problem. The previous owner (A friends mom) has filled it with so much spyware, ad-ware, useless crap, and so much other miscellaneous shit that I can't seem to get rid of anything, It doesn't recognize any boot disks. Or CD's at start up. I just want everything gone. Any help?
Agreed. I assume you've got a fresh copy of Windows/Ubuntu standing by? You can nuke everything manually within Windows, but you need to make sure your CD drive is working if you're planning on a new install. I'm inclined to say that the failure to recognize your CDs is due to a hardware problem, not the malicious junk.
I have a fresh copy, yes. The cd drive plays music, It's just that when I boot from the disk my screen freezes.
