More surveillance cameras will be rolled out in known crime hot spots in Queensland.
The state government will spend $1.5 million to expand CCTV coverage in nine council areas, including Logan, the Gold Coast, Moreton Bay, Palm Island, Toowoomba, and Brisbane's city and Fortitude Valley.
The 64 cameras in Brisbane's CBD will be upgraded and cameras will be installed in a further seven Valley hotspots.
...
Local Government Minister David Crisafulli hopes the cameras will reduce assaults, vandalism and mindless hoodlumism.
"The only people that should be worried are those who set out to assault or intimidate others or damage public property that we all end up paying for," he said.
Because you're totally not spending oodles of money on recording crime instead of public programs or systems that actually deter crime, right guys?

It's a real word.
more on the gold coast.
mainly in Surfers Paradise please.
I'm all for CCTV in public places. Keep surveillance out of homes and the internet, and use it instead to deter violent crime
