You can, but don't expect to suddenly be able to run crysis on it.
They're good for people who have a use for them I don't.
I wouldn't want one really, but they are good if you need it for school or something. I just don't like the limitations of them.
They're great for taking notes in class and stuff, Battery life is generally 6+ hours.
I still prefer notebooks, guess it's personal preferance. My fingers are too chubby for Netbooks and i like a CD drive.
Posting on by Toshiba NB100 now. I wouldn't recommend getting one of these as my keyboard failed and there seem to be quite a few others with the same problem, but the Samsung NC-10 is apparently very good (my mum and dad have one each and they seem to like them).
it's worth it if you can get one for cheap. otherwise, might as well buy a laptop.
i only use mine for travel.
For ~300 bucks, they can be a hell of a deal.

Newer EeePC netbooks get 12+ hours IIRC, my EeePC 1005HA-M gets 7-9hrs depending on the OS and what I'm doing. (I use it for school notes and stuff, but I also mess around with it because it's so cheap that I really don't worry about it -I've currently got it to triple boot Windows, OS X 10.5.6, and Ubuntu 9.10)
Netbooks are pretty awesome though, you can take an entire day's worth of notes and not worry about battery life. I rarely take my charger with me to school now.
I am currently sitting on my new Acer Aspire One D250. It's pretty neat.
If she wants one for home use then no.
I'm posting from a Samsung NC10, and I had an Acer Aspire One before it crapped out and stopped booting the day the warranty expired. They're great if you just want to browse the web, use office or watch videos. There are some good value notebooks available now thought for only a slightly higher price than a netbook, and if it's mostly for home use, that's definitely the better option.
How quiet are these netbooks?
ASUS EEE sucks. I rather have an MSI Wind, or a DELL Mini 10v, since they run windows, linux, and OS X flawlessly.
I don't really like them. I bought a 900HA (eee pc) and i quickly realized i can't stand using a slow computer. Good for school, bathrooms, small as fuck (light too), watching movies or tv shows off of ninjavideo/icefilms, cheap.

the 1005ha is pretty good, and the 1005pe is regarded by many as the best netbook available. who the hell needs osx anyway?
So, what are some good games to run on a netbook? So far I've only really gotten Dorfs.

World of goo, Osmos, Unreal Tournament, Half Life 1, Quake 3, 007 Nightfire, SimCity 4, Robot Arena 2... Tons of games.

I just like having the option to use all 3 OSes, and not limiting my OS options. I might want to triple-boot Win, Lin, and Mac for compatibility.
only if you're going to use it on the go, like taking it to a workplace, cafe with wi-fi etc.
Any you guys have a personal testimony on the HP Mini 210?

Research reviews on Youtube and such, maybe even a laptop-mag review.
I wanna get a dell mini 10v so I can get mac os..
I'm taking computing at A-Level next year, and I figure one of these would be good for me to use so I can work on my programming in free periods/lesson/at home all on the same PC, and they're cheap, so for programming would a netbook be a good idea or should I go for a laptop?
