Display driver has stopped working and has now recovered.

Every time my laptop the Asus G72GX does this, the clock rates on the laptop goes down tto 300/700/370 (core/shader/memory). This iis when I'm watching videos. I've got the latest nvidia drivers 258.96 WHQL but I have no idea why this is doing this.
Happens with my GTS 250 all the time. It is a time game to see how long it lasts in game without the fucking display driver will stop working.
Are you both using Vista?
Nope, I'm on Windows 7 64 bit, happened on windows 7 32 bit as well.
Sounds like overheating.
Check your temps.
Windows 7 64bit. I'm on idle @ 64C.

It would be kninda ovbvious that we would need load temps from your cpu and gpu after 10 minutes of gaming or furmark.
I ran furmark at 1600x900 w/ 2x msaa and at exactly 83C, the fps dropped to 4 and the temperature went down 13C. When I checked GPU-Z and MSI Afterburner, the clock rates on the GPU didn't drop at all, but the performance went from 40fps to 4fps. And it didn't say display driver has stopped working.

Anyone know anything that may be messing around with my gpu like that?
Edit:
What is an ASUS Turbo Gear enhanced VGA driver? Might that be the problem?
Might be it yes.
Only time I get this error is when
A) I am using vista
B) Am trying to use the S-Video cord
What was your cpu temp at the time?
83C seems kinda low fo a gpu to have a cutoff.
Wow... 50% load on the CPU which is 2.53GHZ(x2). I have Xtreme burning mode on, post FX, and displacement w/ 0x MSAA. The CPU temperatures were consistently @ 55-59C. I don't see anything wrong there.
