I bet this was the Anonymous group. Such assholes, going around hecking things. [/s]
Sucks for Ubisoft :(
Sucks for Ubisoft :(
The question is why they would let unreleased content go near their very public platform.
The question is why they would let unreleased content go near their very public platform.
They didn't know it had security leaks yet, I bet they just put it on there since it's apparently already done, and it would make sure it's available on time.
thanks obama

You don't put confidential, unreleased material anywhere near a public portal. It should have stayed on an intranet until rollout time when it would be pushed out to the web. It's their own damn fault.

They thought it was safe and to save the hassle from rushing near the release date, so they uploaded it early. It turned out it wasn't safe, and they fucked up. Steam uploads the files of unreleased games a fair time in advance too, they just protect these unreleased files way better.
and this is what happens when Ubisoft lighten up on their DRM video games are ruined forever
and this is what happens when Ubisoft lighten up on their DRM video games are ruined forever
What does this have to do with DRM?
Doesn't Valve have an internal Steam network?
Yes, I think the only thing kept on public Steam servers are the App IDs of games being uploaded/in talks, or future updates. Sometimes achievements get linked to these and are picked up, which is why we know about upcoming DLC's, like whatever that huge update for Killing Floor is going to contain, albeit only bits and pieces.

And here comes the always on DRM again...
And here comes the always on DRM again...
But that DRM wouldn't have stopped this?
Start what again? no seriously why the fuck am I getting rated dumbs for posting a cheesy stock image
there was another thread where there were pages of pictures of hackers in ski masks and holding the laptop in the arm like that. On topic: Would have been so epic if he stole half life 3.
Very descriptive title BBC.
But that DRM wouldn't have stopped this?
try telling that to Ubisoft's higher-ups that will probably see all the downloads of the leak as proof that PC gamers are all manchildren with no self-control, thereby seeing it as an excuse to start implementing more restrictive DRM again.

Saw some of the gameplay, and it doesn't look like that great of a game in my opinion.
Saw some of the gameplay, and it doesn't look like that great of a game in my opinion.
I love it, personally. It's like the devs got a set period of time and a decent amount of drugs and were told to make a game. It's chock full of great references and humor, and the gameplay is pretty much farcry 3's but with less exploration.
