DENVER, Dec 20 (Reuters) - The former graduate student accused of gunning down scores of patrons in a Colorado movie theater last year was found competent to stand trial by court-appointed sanity evaluators, a judge said Friday.
The disclosure by Arapahoe County District Court Judge Carlos Samour came in the course of legal wrangling over the evaluations that threaten to delay for months a possible trial for 26-year-old James Holmes, who is charged with killing 12 people and wounding dozens more during a midnight screening of the Batman film, "The Dark Knight Rises", in the Denver suburb of Aurora.
Lawyers for Holmes have invoked the insanity defense for the accused gunman, triggering an evaluation by state mental health experts that looked both at his sanity at the time of the shootings as well as his competence to stand trial currently.
Both negative attitudes towards a criminal.
God bless you people for making the justice system that much worse.

he just needs to be rehabilitated back into society you dont understand
I bet he'll get the chair.
I bet he'll get the chair.
Since the electric chair has been put out of service a long time ago due to how cruel and inhumane that method of execution is, I can only assume you mean the most uncomfortable chair in the whole prison he's gonna be incarcerated at.

Nope, he's going to stand trial.
no he means the ones that are just a little too short and strain your back like crazy
Even worse if the armrests are too close together and have splinters.
no he means the ones that are just a little too short and strain your back like crazy
And one of the chair legs is just a few millimeters shorter than the others so it constantly wobbles.

the johnster strikes again
This is why I think the Justice System is fucking stupid, you can do the most horrific things to people and destroy the lives of dozens and nothing happens to you these days.
You just get juggled around court rooms or locked in a box, safe and sound while the ruins of the people you left behind smolder and choke those around them.
Also gotta love the fact they're still saying 'accused' like they're not sure if the police found him next to his car behind the theater he shot up moments after, with it full of weapons whilst wearing full tactical gear.

"cruel and inhumane method of execution"

Of course everyone knows he did it, but they can't say 'convicted', can they? They use 'accused' because that's what he still is in the eyes of the law.
oh hey mystery science post 3000
"cruel and inhumane method of execution"
It were common for them to be botched, and that the prisoner finally died on the third try.
If you don't think that's cruel and inhumane then you're just a step away from being just as bad as the people you wanna see executed.
Good. He deserves to rot in prison.
if he deserves to rot in prison that's definitely what he will get. in a couple decades he will probably also get a cocktail of sodium thiopental, pavulon, and potassium chloride mainlined into his arm. does he deserve that as well? you seem like an expert on who deserves what, paradox621, so i defer to your authority on this one.

uh huh
and whats the alternative system you propose

Colorado has the death penalty, but only uses lethal injection. We just killed a guy earlier this year who shot up a Chuck E Cheese's restaurant back in the 90s.

Because saying "I hope this guy goes to jail for doing something that usually results in going to jail" is exactly the same as saying "I hope this subhuman dogshit trash monster gets put down like the animal he is", right?

He killed 12 people and injured 70 more. He deserves everything that's coming to him.

i never implied he said that.
He killed 12 people and injured 70 more. He deserves everything that's coming to him.
what if he gets let out due to a technicality? if that's what comes to him, does he deserve that?
i never implied he said that.
Then why did you mention the death penalty when he himself made no mention of it?
Then why did you mention the death penalty when he himself made no mention of it?
that's what he is going to get by standing trial, most likely. i doubt the prosecution will take a plea. they are going to go all the way with this so that they can put him under the needle.
why are you defending a mass murderer

its not like prison is fun
he did what he did, don't let him do it again. you can't really do much more than that, nor is there any reason to.
