Hi. I changed the local ip on my Lynksys router(model:WRT54G2). Now I can't access the optoins page or connect to the internet through it anymore. So, i need to know how to change the local ip. Also, i changed the ip to 192.168.1.100, so a way to get the default settings back on could help, too.
Just reset it using the button on the back or open the command prompt and type in ip config and see the ip address for the default gateway and use that.
So you can't get into the router's config page using the ip you set it to?
First try this, go to Start then Run. In the Run box type cmd and in the command prompt type:
ipconfig /release
When it's finished type:
ipconfig /renew
Try getting into your router's config page now.
If that doesn't work try this -
Go to your Control Panel then Network Connections. In there right click on your ethernet connection (Local Area Connection) and hit Properties. In the Properties window double click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and manually set your IP address to the following.
IP Addres - 192.168.1.101
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway - 192.168.1.100
Hit OK and try connecting to your routers config page again.
reset router
Ahh, i finally figured out how to get the router to reset. Turns out you have to hold own the reset button for 30 seconds. Sheesh, they make you do so much work these days.
