So I'm wanting to record some footage of me playing games. I can set up fraps to record windows sounds (eg the game) and also record my mic, but if the mic is too quiet or loud I can't edit it in Sony Vegas later because the Mic and Windows sounds are merged into the one audio track. I have tried Dxtory, which does separate the mic and windows sounds onto different audio tracks, but when I play footage I've recorded using Dxtory it is choppy and lags (I've heard this is a common issue, something to do with harddrive speed)
So is there a way to fix either of these issues, or just a different/better recording program for game capture altogether? I've heard Bandicam is good but I'm yet to look into it
Record your microphone in Audacity. Amazing quality.

If I record mic in a separate program such as Audacity, any tips for syncing the audio and video up? Or is it just a bit of fiddling in the editing process

I've been editing a clip where we did the excact same process except with a camera. Even though it was split it was easy to hit right on. Usually people making gameplays or anything where you can't see the person have their mics a bit further ahead to compensate the delay you have when you're trying to say something. (Not too much though)

Do what most professionals in the industry do: create a visual and audio event (like how they use a clapperboard in the filming of movies) that are synchronized when you start recording.
Convert the dxtory footage before trying to watch it
If you are determined to watch it directly from the uncompressed file, try using the scaling function or an alternative codec such as Ut or Lagarith

How? Sorry for all the very basic questions but I haven't done audio stuff/making videos for a while now.
Is there a program that will record my microphone and windows sounds at the same time so I can just leave something like Fraps to recording solely video?
