Danish police have said three officers were shot and wounded at blasphemy debate in Copenhagen where the French ambassador was speaking.
Two gunmen are said to be still at large.
Reports say up to 40 shots were fired outside the venue in the Danish capital.
Controversial Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who has drawn caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad, was also present at the debate.
Shortly after the attack, a message appeared on the Twitter feed of French ambassador Francois Zimeray saying he was unharmed.
The area around the venue, reportedly a cafe, is under lockdown, the BBC's Malcolm Brabant reports.
Police have erected cordons and are searching a nearby park, he adds.
Lars Vilks stoked controversy in 2007 by drawing pictures of the Prophet Muhammad dressed as a dog.

The french ambassador was even there to talk about Charlie Hebdot, which means that the security was tight.
What's cool about this is the fact that after the initial firefight was over, the debate on freedom of speech continued unofficially while the debaters were waiting to be interviewed by the police.
Two were killed and two police officers wounded at synagogue last night, apparently it was the same shooter.
The suspect has apparently been killed by police in a firefight outside his home.

IT BEGINS.
Again...
Here we go again
By estimation of the police involved in the firefight, fully automatic rifles were used in the attack. That is an extremely rare occasion in Denmark.
I really wish people would stop getting shot.
Seriously find them and fuck them up then beat them to death with the ACME Big Book Of Danish Laws.
There's a minor rumour that one civillian has been killed during the attack, this has not been confirmed, however.
Apparently the two attackers hijacked a dark VW from a woman after the attack. Police is now searching for said car.
Not suprised. These things will just keep happening as all muslims don't believe that islam and muhammad can be debated and criticised. May Allah give speed in catching them.

Okay. The Police of Copenhagen has confirmed 1 person dead and 3 police officers wounded.

Edit: Apparently it's 1 civillian who has been killed and just 2 police officers wounded, but not life-threatening.
Car has been found abandoned, and police has confirmed that it's a 40-year-old civillian (male) who has been killed.
The incident comes after the attack on the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine in Paris last month, in which 12 people were killed.
François Zimeray, the French ambassador to Denmark, was also at the meeting.
He told AFP: "They fired on us from the outside. It was the same intention as Charlie Hebdo except they didn't manage to get in."
Mr Vilks has faced several attempted attacks and death threats after he depicted the Prophet Muhammad as a dog in 2007 including an attempt to burn down his house in 2010.
Mr Vilks is a brave man indeed it is all our duty to stand up for our rights and freedom of Speech. This could have been far worse if they managed to get in. I don't think they considered armed police would be there.

Thank you for this elected representative of every muslim

Cause every muslim is like that, right?
Anyways, I hope they find who did this, sucks that shit like this happens today..

How in the burning fuck you haven't been perma'd yet is simply beyond me, all you do is flagrantly shitpost on SH.
And to think this sort of stuff would happen in my country.
Never really expected something like this to actually happen, but I am not really surprised it happened now, considering the recent events.

I'm honestly surprised that it didn't happen sooner. The terror threat level rose significantly after the 2005 Muhammad cartoons controversy, and newspapers and certain political cartoonists have been assigned dedicated protection for a long time.
I think a major factor is that the police managed to arrest terror suspects before they actually got to carry out their planned attacks, completely disrupting their plans.
This could have been a massacre if the gunman had gotten in (one gunman and one driver apparently) and started to shoot up the place. Fortunately, the armed police guard stopped the attacker with gunfire beforehand, so only one person got killed.
Were the officers still able to defend themselves? I'd like to think they managed to put up a good fight before going down.
the real danger about these attacks is that it might give right-wing extremists enough "credibility" for them to rise in similar ways nationalism rose in early 20th century, thankfully its unlikely they'll be able to rise that easily since europe hasn't forgotten fascism yet.

You know many muslims really dont care about their religion, just like many Swedish christians dont care about their religion.

No the real danger is the limitation of freedom of speech and self-censoring.
You know many muslims really dont care about their religion.
This really confuses me. Why call yourself a muslim if you DONT care about being a muslim? Are you trying to use muslim as a synonym for person from middle eastern decent?

Who are you to say who is a Muslim and who isn't?

which is one of the things right-wing extremists would use as an excuse to rally supporters(and already are).

Basically there was a lot of police present when the shooting happened, as Lars Vilks and the French Ambassador both have guards. 2 of the wounded officers were actually PET-agents, which is sort of the equivalent of FBI.
According to the police, the shooters never got inside, and just shot through the glass doors. When the police inside fired back, they ran off and hijacked a car.
Also, guess I should mention that the danish police have now released info on one of the suspects. They're looking for:
A man, 25-30 years old. 185 cm tall. Arab looking, but with lighter skin than normal, and with smooth black hair.
His gun was an automatic, 90-100 cm long, all black and looked almost like plastic.
Who are you to say who is a Muslim and who isn't?
I'm questioning the logic for that person to say they are a member of a specific religious group despite the fact they do not follow the religion's tenants.
I have to say, the handling of these cases lend a lot of credibility to the PET. They have either managed to arrest the planners in advance, but now they have also proven that they are able to stop an attack if they are ready and on the scene.
I've gone to that bar a few times in the past. Scary, really. And I just read that the dead was a civilian, and not one of the attackers as someone had rumored it to be. Thoughts and hearts to him and his family.
Fucking bastards.

Logic has little to do with it.
Word is now that there's only 1 suspect.
Police has released a picture of what might be the suspect:

People are irrational.
These attacks will increase as the Muslim population increases, you can't keep your heads buried in the sand.

The danish nationalists have gone batshit. Is it ok to loose a little faith in a unified people?
