• The Witcher 2 - Poor FPS & General Performance

Hey all. I recently bought The Witcher 2 from Steam. There's no reason why my system shouldn't be able to run it with relatively high settings or at the very least, a decent framerate. However, attempting to run it on anything above medium settings results in an unexplainably low framerate. Running it on the lowest possible settings causes it to hover around the 25-28 FPS mark, occasionally going above 30 if I look at a wall for a while. I still have no idea what's causing this issue and have tried the following: -Installing the latest drivers. -Uninstalling 3D Vision drivers. -Minimizing active processes while game is running. -Obsessively tweaking options to find a working combination. -Searching for other fixes. None of these have caused much improvement at all and I have no idea what else to do. My specs are as follows: Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 6600 ASUS P5N-E SLI Motherboard NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ 4GB RAM It might be worth noting I have a spare 9800 GTX that I used to use for SLI but it often caused more issues than it solved. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What's your resolution? The Witcher 2 is pretty damn hard to run.
What's your resolution? The Witcher 2 is pretty damn hard to run.
1920x1080 at the moment. I've played around with it but it never did anything remarkable. I'll give it another go now. EDIT: Lowering the resolution doesn't change the low FPS but it does make the high-FPS moments smoother.

The parts where you're getting low FPS on low resolution and so forth, is probably becuase your CPU is bottlenecking your card. You're simply just changing the bottleneck with the settings.

Did you try disabling ubersampling? That effect is only for computers built in 2016
Did you try disabling ubersampling? That effect is only for computers built in 2016
Haha, I haven't even tried enabling it. The framerate is bad enough as it is, ubersampling would turn it into a slideshow. EDIT: Attempted using older drivers that apparently cured the issue for other users. No luck there.
Well you're running one of the most performance heavy games in existance on a three generation old graphics card and a two and a half generation old processor, no wonder it's running like shite. Me with my i5 750 OC@4ghz and HD6950 OC@910mhz still only pull about 50fps on high settings.
